CHA CHA CHA CHA CHAyyyynges
Hi folks,
The structure of the cha_book_club community has changed, and I'd like to invite all of you to join it.
As many of you know, the CHA Book Club was a book club that consisted of irishmyst, hoter210, and myself in which we alternated choosing books to read each month. It was a lovely arrangement for a while, with such successes as The Handmaid's Tale, Slammerkin, and The Pact (all Cassie's selections, interestingly enough), but the arrangement hasn't quite been working since April of 2005, and it is time for a change.
As for the fate of the CHA itself, we haven't quite discussed it yet, but as for the lj community that bears its name, I've decided to open it up to all lovers of reading and discussing books. So if you are one of those, go ahead and join the community. I hope to make it a place that you can not only post about books, but also a place where you can informally arrange mini-book-clubs amongst the members. By this I mean the following: post that you are interested in reading a particular book, when people respond, decided amongst yourselves on a finishing date, or whether you'll even have a finishing date, whether you'll discuss it in person or in the lj community or both, whether you'll stop along the way and discuss it or wait until the end, etc. Visit the community's info page for more details.
Also, if you're in another book club yourself, you can post what book your club is reading and invite people to read along.
As you can see, this is all very impromptu and disorganized, and I think I like it that way. I hope to see many of your faces (or whatever your icon looks like) in the cha_book_club!
