Hello Everyone!
Your Goal for January 2011 is to:
Make Healthy Choices
Every single day, we are faced with choices:
Get up and walk/jog/do that video I bought when I was ridiculously inspired to workout OR do I hit the snooze button?
Healthy cereal and a banana for breakfast OR grab a grande mocha frappuccino and a scone on my way?
Stairs OR elevator?
Salad with light dressing, skip the breadsticks for lunch OR a Baconator and a small fry, oh, and a frosty?
Water with crystal light for an afternoon pick-me-up OR large Dr Pepper with extra ice?
Baked chicken, steamed veggies and a single wheat roll for dinner OR takeout Chinese with eggrolls and pot stickers?
Walk around the block with the hubby and dog after dinner OR ice cream and the season premiere of Project Runway?
In bed by 11 OR wait til the Late, Late show is over to even think about bed?
The funny thing is that they are just that: Choices. We get to CHOOSE which path we want to take each day, several times each day. We have that power. Time to capitalize on that power. Start MAKING these choices. Start DECIDING to be better to your body, your soul, your mind. Everybody feels better when they're treating themselves with a little respect. Your body runs more efficiently, you have more energy, you're happier. So, DO IT. Get out there. DECIDE to walk the path that'll make you feel better. You can do it. You probably already do, sometimes. Now is the time to start doing it regularly. Pay attention to what you're deciding to do. Take notice of your choices. Make the right ones. For you!

My favorite article while researching this topic came from the Wisconsin State Journal:

They talk about Different Motivations, Keeping at It, Finding the Exercise You Love, and Getting Support. They really do cover the idea I was trying to communicate, and I encourage you to take a look.

Some areas of your life to focus on while trying to be healthy:
Eat Better
Drink Water
Get Enough Sleep
Exercise/Get Active
Handle Stress
What are some ways you could incorporate these into your regular routine?
Maybe taking the stairs a time or two a week wouldn't take too much time?
Could you substitute something you're currently doing with one of these without a big effort?
How about a glass of yummy lemonade instead of that soda?
Would it help to do it with someone else?
Maybe your hubby likes to lift weights and you like to do a workout dvd; maybe get up at the same time and do your respective workouts?
Whatever it takes, get out and DO IT. Start today. You never know where this one step will lead you. :)
