Progress? Not so much...

Here are the goals I'm trying to reach this month:

1. Stick to the healthy menu I've planned and COOK DINNER on Mondays-Thursdays - Okay, this one I'm doing pretty good at, so I guess all is not lost. Tonight, I'm making chicken fajitas. It sounds all fancy, but what it literally means is:
- Defrosting one large chicken breast
- Cutting it into strips
- Marinating it in a ziploc bag with one tbsp oil and lots of Mrs. Dash and cumin
- Peel, then cut up 3 or 4 potatoes & fry them for Tom with salt and a *little* Mrs. Dash and seasoned salt - I don't touch the potatoes, but he doesn't have enough food if he doesn't have them.
- Cutting up green pepper to be broiled with the chicken
- Cutting up lettuce and tomato to go in MY fajitas
- Putting the chicken and green pepper on the broiler in the oven as soon as Tom gets home 'cause they only take about 4 minutes

We do this meal a LOT, mostly with chicken, but occasionally with steak. It's super healthy and very filling (when I remember to make the potatoes for Tom - I HATE it when I forget - I feel very guilty).

2. In the meals that eating out is unavoidable, only ONE of those (per week) gets to include fries - Well, my "week" starts on Friday 'since that's payday for Tom and eat out for lunch and date night. So, so far so good, even though today's only Monday. :) I had fries for lunch yesterday.

3. NO chocolate shakes, brownie melts, frosties, McFlurries, Blizzards, whatever Wendy's calls their mixy thingies, no McD sundaes, no Cold Stone. If I want something sweet, I can eat a handful of dark chocolate chips that I bought specifically for that purpose or the ice cream sandwiches in the freezer (that I know how many calories are in) at home - Wow, do I suck at this one! I've had both a frosty AND a brownie melt, plus some ice cream sandwiches. I don't know that I've ever met anyone else who craves and NEEDS dessert as often as I do. *sigh* So, gotta' work on that one.

4. NO caffeine during the week. Caffeine headache? Deal with it like a big girl and take a motrin. No McD tea, no mocha frappe, no iced cappuccino made with chocolate milk, no Dr P, no nothing. Do it, girl. You know you can. You just don't want to! :) - Not doing so hot on this one, either. *sigh* Had 3(?) sweet teas over the weekend and a big glass of Pepsi this morning. Geesh. I'll try to do better.

So, CLEARLY, I have a lot to work on. But, I'm not going to lose hope yet! I CAN do this! Must have faith in my ability to change. :)

I'll keep ya' updated.
