My New Sobe!!!!!!!!
His name is Sobe. He is a Savannah Monitor. He is approximately 21 inches long. He is fed live feed (mainly mice, crickets, and hoppers)... and he is an escape artist!
Picked him up Sunday morning at a local exotic pet store. Guy puts him in a bag. We leave the pet store and start to drive away and take him out of his bag. He immediately takes off under the pedals and up behind my dash behind the guage cluster. I almost got in an accident. We pull over and try to reach up there and get him out. He did not enjot that and bit Nicole, drawing some blood. We decided he wasn't going to move at all so we drove home. Took apart my dashboard and took out my guage cluster. Finally pried Sobe out of there! In all it took us an hour and a half to get him out and another half an hour to put my car back together correctly.
So we decorate his cage and put him in so he can get accustomed to his new home. Went to the mall. Come back 2 hours later. No lizard. Searched for 30 minutes and found him hanging on the screen in one of my windows. I remember zipping up the mesh on his cage! So he got out by climbing up to the top of the cage, then nudging at the zippers seperating them just enough for him to fit his body through. (I now lock the zippers together to prevent this) He also likes to knock everything over when he gets out. My computer speakers were knocked off, the CDs were everywhere, and the records I had on my turntables have nice scratches in them now!
For the first day I had him he did not eat at all. I tried to feed him a few crickets but he was way too scared to eat. I left this morning to go back to the pet store to see what they were feeding him. Came back and the crickets were gone. I then gave him a mouse (yes live cause im cruel and shit and savs need exercise). He still won't eat in front of me :( but at least he is eating fine now. Yes, he ate the mouse :)
