Playoff Predictions

Oct 03, 2005 21:54

Okay, so I'm going to make my mostly uneducated, seemingly random guesses at what's going to go down during the 2005 MLB playoffs. If I'm right, you heard it here first. Of course, that's not likely to happen.
Anyhow...

ALDS: New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
New York in four. Vlad and Bartolo won't be able to carry the Angels, unfortunately.
ALDS: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Red Sox
Chicago's not going to score many runs, but their pitching will give them enough of an edge to keep Boston's offense in check and win the series in five games.
NLDS: San Diego Padres vs. St. Louis Cardinals
St. Louis has a strong team as always, but I'm really going to go out on a limb here. San Diego seemed to be getting somewhat competent at just the right time, and through random strokes of luck the Padres cause a major upset, defeating the Cardinals in four games.
NLDS: Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves
Houston's team is pretty decent this year, and for some reason Atlanta's just not going to play very well. A random prediction of the Astros over the Braves in three.
ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox
Again, Chicago will keep the opposing offense in check and get enough clutch hits to win. Chicago over New York in five.
NLCS: San Diego Padres vs. Houston Astros
Okay, so the Padres are going to win the first game and be like, "Wtf, how did we get here, mates? We're not a good team." And the Astros will be like "effed" to the Padres and win in five games.
World Series: Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros
Ozzie Guillen's going to be like, "Okay, fools, if you don't win this series I'm going to kill you." And the White Sox will be scared and play like it. However, Phil Garner's going to rile up his Astros and say something like, "We made it this far! Great! It's okay if you don't win; you'll all get flowers and tea if you lose or win!" As such, this series will be somewhat close, with the Chicago White Sox taking the championship in six games. MVP? Um, Konerko? Complete randomness.
Anyway, had the Indians made the playoffs, I'd predict them to win the World Series. But they're not, so I'm going with Chicago.
