Feb 15, 2013 19:18

Hi readers! One more skipped week - it's been snow, snow, and craziness in my part of the world, one distraction after another. When I saw it was already Friday again, I knew I had to get the post up!

Today we're closing up the Ares marathon and reading a story, Songs of Sadness, by a new author, Kara.

Loved reading this tale again.

It had just the right sort of chilling murders, and a ghost, no less, that was the murderer. Set in a castle no less.

Angel being all Angel, quiet and gorgeous, loved seeing him from Eleanor's eyes.

The poetry was a nice touch. Loved how Giles and Angel show their knowledge, leaving Buffy to ask if everyone knows Donne but her.

The imagine of Angel pacing outside Heaven's doors was inspiration. Great analogy.

And this is the first time we're told that Giles had contacted the dead slayers' parents to inform them of their deaths. I had always wondered if the girls had just been made to disappear.

A wonderful way to solve the case, to quote a happy poem to the ghost.

Well done! Loved the story. Thank you, Kara.

This was a really nice story and I really enjoyed re reading it.... I think that on my first read, I was so overwhelmed with some of the bigger stories and the overall arc, that smaller ones like this slipped through my memory...One of the pleasures of the re read for me has been revisiting some of these stories.....

hard to believe this is a story by a new author, all of the characters and dialogue were spot on..

I thought the whole story had a lovely rhythmic poetric to it.. . was a pleasure to read...

thanks..
