Went and saw my first opera the other day! It was AMAZING. I think I am going to become an addict. My father and I got all gussied up for the event. Ill list some of the key events during the night.
1. Ate at
La Madeleine before heading to the opera. It was amazing! Like the french version of Damico & Sons. I had the mushroom soup and the turkey bistro that is basically like a hot turkey sandwich. I am a mushroom soup fanatic.
2. We were waiting in line for wine when a chick behind us starts talking loudly how she finds it funny that the Cubans dress all gawdy when they come to the opera their first time. As if they are star struck. The woman who was speaking was wearing a ratty old business suit. Lawl upper middle class. -_-
3. The soprano that played Mimi kinda blew in the first two acts but really proved her metal in the last two.
4. There were seat hoppers during the first intermission. The third act is supposed to show the despair that is happening to the couple but all I could hear was SHUK SHUK SHUK SHUK SHUK SHUK SHUK. The woman who seat hopped was rubbing her hands together for 8 minutes straight and it sounded like sandpaper. If I had lotion I would have been an ass and gave her some. Should have told her to sit on her hands. -_-
5. As we were leaving I told my dad to watch out for the women in heels, that they probably had too much wine and we wouldnt want to trip over any in our wake. Not long after I said this some lady in her mid 40's totally beefed it like 2 feet in front of me! It was impressive. She probably sprained her ankle or something.
6. I want to see more operas! Gotta keep a look out for when the war horses come into town.
7. Went to a cafe after to have some salad and wine. I forgot my ID in the car and the girl asked for it but I stated that I was well over the age. She allowed me my wine but came back a little while later asking if we were secret shoppers. We all had a good laugh at that. I hated those mother fuckers. They ruin lives of people in the food industry.
