[series]: Supernatural
[character]: Andrew "Andy" Gallagher
[character history / background]:
Born in '83, Andy was one of the 'special children' selected by a demon named Azazel. His birth mother Holly had put both him and his twin, Ansem, up for adoption-- but Andy was never aware of the existence of his brother. He had went to the Gallagher family, while Ansem went to the Weems family.

On the night he turned six months old, Azazel finally paid him a visit. It's assumed that Andy was fed some of his blood, which is what would result in his psychic abilities later in life. His adopted mother was killed by Azazel in a nursery fire (presumably because she had walked in on him).

He lived fairly simply in the following years (as indicated by telling Sam later that he has everything he needs-- which isn't much), had a relationship with a girl named Tracey (whom he continued to be close friends with afterward), and got to know way too many debt collectors. This all changed about a year ago when he began to develop his powers. With a verbal command, he was able to get people to obey his instructions without question.

He used this ability for little things; a free cup of coffee now and then, telling the debt collectors to leave him alone, free backseat passes to a concert, and so on. Nothing that would have caused serious harm to people.

Shortly after, a new man at work arrived. He introduced himself as Webber, and he would've seemed nice enough if he wasn't trying so hard to become good friends with Andy. Like, obsessively trying. However, he didn't think much of it at the time.

Eventually, events began falling into place. On a day that started out normal enough, he received the news that Doctor Jennings (a friend of his and also the doctor that oversaw the adoption of both him and Ansem) had died-- walked in front of a bus and killed himself. Shaken and upset, he went to see Tracey, whom had some more surprising news for him: two men had been to her earlier claiming to be lawyers overseeing his inheritance. The only problem with this was that the inheritance was supposedly from a relative of his that didn't exist.

One of these two men, Dean Winchester, was someone he had *ahem* 'borrowed' a nice car from earlier in the day (but at least he left the keys in it for him to get it back later).

He caught on to them following him, confronting them in their car and using his powers to demand the truth. One of them, Sam, was unaffected, but Dean told him that they were hunting demons and that his brother had abilities similar to Andy (among other things, including that the two thought he was a murderer). Naturally, this freaked him out-- he told them to leave, to get in their car and keep driving. Again, Dean was ready to oblige while Sam remained immune.

The two accused him of using his mind control to kill Jennings. This was also when Sam was struck by a vision-- a woman at a gas station received a call on her cell phone instructing her to burn herself alive.

Dean left to stop her and Sam remained to make sure Andy didn't call anyone. As it turned out, the woman's name was Holly Beckett. She'd died minutes before Dean arrived, meaning that it was impossible for the killer to have been Andy (he was with Sam at the time when the call would've been made). Sam then told him about his 'death visions', and also that there were others out there that had similar abilities. Chalk up another point on the shock board.

While he had known Jennings, the name Holly Beckett wasn't even familiar to him. He couldn't see any possible link-- until Dean also revealed that he found out she gave birth twenty-three years ago. Andy confirmed the fact that he was adopted, but in order to be sure that Holly was his birth mother, they needed to look at official birth records. All official birth records were hard copy only, stored in the county office.

As he so eloquently put it, screw that. Andy got them into the office, granting the brothers access to the records. Perfect timing for yet another shock: Holly was his birth mother, and she'd given birth to not just him, but twins. When the image of Ansem Weems, his twin, printed off, he was staring at a picture of Webber.

On their way to confront him, Sam was struck with another vision, this time one of Tracey jumping off a dam. Luckily, they arrived in time-- Dean remained by the car to avoid having his mind screwed with, and Andy went with Sam to rescue Tracey. It was revealed that someone with yellow eyes visited Ansem in his dreams and told him about Andy-- that he had 'big plans' for the both of them. Ansem, however, was insane: he killed everyone he believed had been keeping him apart from Andy, insisting that they could rule over everyone else with their powers.

'When you find out you have a twin, you call him up and take him out for a drink, you don't start killing people.' Unfortunately, Ansem was more powerful, able to control minds without always using a verbal command. He threatened to make Tracey jump off the bridge, and came close to succeeding. It was the sound of Dean loading a gun nearby that distracted him.

Ansem nearly made him blow his own brains out, but not before Andy pulled a shotgun on his twin and killed him first. After the cops arrived, he demonstrated that he was already getting better at controlling his abilities, telling them that Ansem killed himself, and that they saw it happen. Tracey wouldn't even look at him afterwards.

The Winchesters had to depart shortly after, leaving him with their number in case anything else comes up. It would be months before he encountered one of them again.

This time, he was busy coming down from his fourth bong load, only to wake up and find himself in some kind of frontier-esque city (actually Cold Oak, South Dakota-- rumoured to be one of the most haunted cities in the world). They also encountered a girl named Ava Wilson locked in a shed, claiming to remember nothing of the five months she'd been missing for (or so had said Sam, who knew her). There were two others as well, named Jake and Lily.

As it turned out in the end, the reason they were there was because they all had special powers-- and were meant to kill each other until there was only one left. This was something Andy wasn't made aware of.

In order to keep the demons and spirits away, all of them (minus Lily-- she had tried to escape and got killed) grouped up inside a building and lined all the entrances with salt. Ava eventually went missing, resulting in Sam and Jake leaving to search for her. Andy remained inside the building alone, just in time to see Ava return-- though it turned out that it wasn't exactly good news. Ava had been the only one out of the four missing time, and had actually been controlling the demons in the city in her attempt to kill them all and be the only one left alive.

She broke the line of salt, summoning one inside. This would have been the end of Andy, except I'll be playing him from before the demon killed him-- he can just... suddenly find himself in the city. DON'T BLINK OR YOU'LL MISS IT.

[character abilities]:
Andy has the ability to use mind control-- he can tell people what to think and they'll think it, and he can tell them what to do and they'll do it. He's also capable of projecting images into the minds of others (though he either needs to be near them or in possession of something they've touched).

It's hinted that with time, he can broaden these powers to include even more psychic traits.

[character personality]:
Andy doesn't ask for much: a nice ride (alright, so it's a sweet ride-- he's got a disco ball in that thing), Moby Dick's his bong, and a few good friends. Even when he discovered that he could control people, he didn't use those powers for anything that would seriously hurt others, be it physically or emotionally (though bending the law for little things now and again is fair game).

He'd rather avoid conflicts, get by, and live each day out as best he can, but he still isn't someone you'd want to piss off unless you feel like having gay porn projected into your mind. Yes, all honour is sacrificed in the face of a good sense of humour. What? Gay porn, man. It was funny.

Despite his marijuana habits and the laidback attitude that makes him seem like a slacker, it's also worth noting that Andy isn't stupid. He keeps heavy reading material, leading to the conclusion that he's actually quite intelligent even when he doesn't act like it-- maybe bordering on genius. He can rationalize, and doesn't have an easy time accepting the 'impossible', with the exception of his own abilities. While he may be easily startled (and who wouldn't be given the circumstances he was in), he isn't exactly slow on the uptake. It's actually more likely that Andy's capable of putting deep thought into his discussions, should the topic revolve around a philosophical issue.

Often, he tends to forget where to draw the line in conversations: he'll either clam up when he's nervous, or he'll ramble on with more detail than the other party would care to hear. A word that fits him well is 'awkward', although it's a term that should be used loosely when put into the context of his overall personality. Because Andy? Is also friggin' awesome. He can be smooth, he can be sharp, and he can be damn cool when he has the chance. Things only start falling apart for him when he's shoved into an undesirable situation, be it demons, or shady confrontations.

Though he has powers that would certainly allow him to hurt others, Andy isn't a murderer, nor is he a bad guy-- not even close (...not that he's a saint either). Self-defense aside, he doesn't intentionally hurt people for his own benefit, and he doesn't see the need to cause more trouble than necessary-- if anything, he uses his mind control to avoid the trouble he'd be getting by certain groups. To put it another way: sure, a little rule breaking is always exciting, but any serious trouble tends to make him nervous. Take... waking up in a demon infested town, for instance.

Finally, he can put on a surprising display of bravery if it's required (like when he discovered that Tracey was in danger). He isn't the kind of person that would go running headfirst into danger unless there are special circumstances, because, well, that's absolutely stupid and mildly terrifying-- but he won't falter when he's given an instruction during a time when he ought to be panicking instead.

[point in timeline you're picking your character from]: From moments before the demon tore him to shreds, just after Ava summoned it (All Hell Breaks Loose, Part One)

[journal post]:
ohgodohgod... [That's muttered quietly for a few seconds, before a long pause follows.] Ohmygod, what is this? Sam--Jake--Ava! She brought that thing--demon thing-- in here, like, full on summoned it! Beam me in, master, wham! What the hell is wrong with...

[Sound of a deep breath.] Right, okay, think. Where is. The salt.

Because if this is friggin' spook town, they just did some of the fastest redecorating in history. Sam! Jake?

[Some fumbling.] What the... what's this-- [And the recording ends.]

[third person / log sample]:
Alright, demons he could wrap his head around. A demon town he could wrap his head around (somewhat). But this? Dude, they needed to invent a whole new category of weird for this. Okay, you don't just-- teleport into the middle of a huge city. It was like he had some sort of... get out of demonsville free card.

Andy wasn't about to start complaining about missing the opportunity to be mauled by a demon-- face it, that's not every kid's one dream and aspiration (when I grow up, I wanna have my guts ripped out and drink them through a str--nevermind, thinking about it was getting nauseating). What he was complaining about was that this place seemed even farther away from Oklahoma than the last place. It was like some never-ending spiral of 'why me'.

"I come in peace," it was more an attempt to make sure his own voice was still working, but it helped. See? Nothing creeping out at him. Suddenly, there were significantly less reasons to freak out. Granted, it was cutting into a pretty long list. Peace, as in, note the part where I don't mean pieces. I am a one piece man, one single functioning piece.

And was that a karaoke bar?

Yeah, this was one of those days where he would've been better off never getting out of bed. "I think I need to sit down."

---Second Sample---

It was enough waking up in some Fontierland wannabe. Adding demons on top of that had been the icing on the cake he wouldn't eat if you paid him-- know what? Make it the cake he wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. The cake he'd pay not to eat. Dazed, confused, and so hungry that he could've sworn the sandwich he had last night was actually his meal last week, it was all Andy could do not to write this whole thing up as some sick dream. Maybe a product of that fourth bong load-- a vivid product, but who was he to scrap the possibility? Man, he loved the possibility.

It was like working through phases. First there was the denial stage, then there was the total panic stage, and now there came the 'just-do-what-Sam-says' stage, which he had no intention of moving on from anytime soon. "Salt."

He was looking for salt. It wasn't exactly first on his list of ways to ward off demons. And then followed the question of the day: what was he even doing here?

His hair was plastered to his head (it happened to be a result of the cold sweat), and he could feel his heart pumping like some sort of race horse tripping out on LSD. Alright, sure- he may have laughed at all those cheesy bits in the movies-- come on, who wouldn't?-- but now that it was actually happening to him, he could barely keep his focus on the task at hand. The things that kept popping into his mind were just...

Impossible. This whole thing is impossible. If demons were real, what else was real? Zombies? Vampires? Werewolves? Not to mention... Were the five of them actually chosen for something? Because generally, it was easier to just ask than kidnap people-- oh, and the fact he wanted nothing to do with it. Honestly, all the twenty-three year old really wanted right now was to wake up back in his van, drooling onto his pillow as he realized that this place was nothing more than a bad memory.

To think that he'd been surprised by meeting someone else with psychic powers-- that was practically laughable compared to what was going on. He was walking on eggshells in his attempt to keep it together. Freaking out was basically asking for disaster. Andy knew that. It was number one in the... the horror flick survival guide or whatever. If he could have gone to the other extreme and remained perfectly calm, he would have, but that was so easier said than done. Even the sound of a rake leaning against the wall toppling to the floor next to him was enough to make him flinch.

Luckily, it was also enough to catch his attention. The two bags behind it were sitting against the wall, unremarkable save for a trail of white salt running down the side of one. "You guys!" Andy knelt down, taking them in hand and looking towards the entrance to the other room. Finding salt shouldn't make anyone this happy. Seriously. He hadn't felt as lucky as he did right this moment since he the day he realized he could use mind control. If that had been like winning the lotto, this was like... like... "I found something!"

Like, screw that. Who cares? He'd rather focus on getting out Cold Oak without being mauled to death by something that shouldn't even exist in the first place.
