I do not know how long I'll live
But while I live, Lord, let me give
Some comfort to someone in need
By smile or nod, kind word or deed

And let me do what ever I can
To ease things for my fellow man
I want naught but to do my part
To "lift" a tired or weary heart

To change folks' frowns to smiles again
Then I will not have lived in vain
And I'll not care how long I'll live
If I can give... and give... and give

Just found this on the Make a Child Smile website (www.makeachildsmile.org). That is such a sad (and sometimes happy) site to visit. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to grow up in a hospital.

All of my entries (all NONE of them) get more and more serious, I see. It's a new chapter! There are so many things I can do in my future to help people, from a letter to a sick child to urban ministry to international missions. Lots of dreams. I believe I will start by marching down to the library next week (tomorrow, if I go to town) and donating to this campaign going on with my church through World Vision. Buy a backpack for a Canadian child in poverty and a grove of trees, or something. I have many ambitions for myself, but I think it's also important to help others realize their own ambitions. Like, the ambition to have food on the table every day. Honestly. Can't imagine. It seems as though the focus in my life is shifting from being me-centered all the time to being me-centered less of the time as I continue to entertain thoughts of dedicating my life to helping others. Um, and God, that is. Need to work on that quite a lot. Hopefully getting to go to a new church will be refreshing, as well as getting involved in the campus fellowship. I really miss going to youth group already.

Getting pretty excited about my higher education. I now know who my roommate is and where I will be living (right where I wanted to be!). Everyone keeps asking me what I'll do with my languages. Well, really, I wanted them to make travel (missions, one day?) easier. Who knows what career I'd have. I could be the dub voice in movies, ha. Did I mention seriously considering a double major with World Religions? I think it's really important to know about other religions as well as my own so as not to appear ignorant (as I am now), to be tolerant and respectful, and to better back me up in Christianity vs Everything Else debates (who am I kidding, I suck at arguing). There is this great website called allaboutgod.com that has tons of info on everything under the sun. Jolly good.

Also, I have begun to form a mental list of things I would like to personally learn to do sometime this life, which will cease to be mental within the next few keystrokes.
- paragliding
- SCUBA diving
- fly a plane/get private pilot's license
- solve a Rubik's cube (okay, this one's not as important, it would just make me look smrt)
- first aid

& yes.
