Getting some what? Attention? Exercise? Cardio strengthening? Good vibes?
Yeah, I’d like to be getting some of all of the above.
Today, our focus was cardio.
Warm up: jumping jacks, squats, reverse lunges, side lunges … get a medicine ball.
Circuit 1: Jumping jacks (no, can’t get away from them on cardio day), hold the ball like a goblet, do power squats with it, then hold the ball overhead, tricep extensions (or whatever they’re called … I’m pretty sure we did this because I whined about how my triceps were sore from Tuesday … which they were), put the ball down, burpees with pushups, pick up the ball, ball slams hard, then … no relaxing, basically start over, jumping jacks, power squats holding in goblet position, tricep extensions overhead, burpees, ball slams, hold ball overhead, calf raises … I think we did more stuff with the balls, but I can’t remember. Then we took a break.
Circuit 2: Get light weights. There weren’t enough 5s for both Helen and me, so we did 7.5s. Oy vey. Power squats with weights held shoulder height. Reverse lunges with bicep curls. Push presses (fast … I did 37 the first time, 40 the second). Drop the weights, lateral hops. Pick up the weights, power squats, reverse lunges with bicep curls, push presses, drop the weights, lateral hops. Then what, I can’t remember. I know we did more jumping jacks in there, because Chris likes to torture me and they are torture. Well, it was five or six hours ago, wasn’t it?
Conversation today: somebody’s promotion was a big topic of conversation, pizza was a topic of conversation, movies (seriously?) were a topic of conversation … like who is the new Justice Squad something or other? The answer is Matt Damon, but I don’t know what the question is. Justice League? That sounds right. Oh, Dr. Torture guy was in the gym as well today.
I confess, despite my triceps still making their presence known, I feel pretty good.
So something must be working …
Bear’s going on a trip next week, so I’ll be missing some workoutage … while I hike and sightsee in the great West …
Cheers.
