Really?

Hi Def, Dolores and the Bear met for our cardio/strength workout today. And what a workout it was! To be sure, Hi Def was glad it wasn’t on the dreadmills, but honestly, it was still pretty hard. Chris bailed kind of at the last minute, but gave us a new workout (remember, he's "accessing anew" some new/old material from God knows where ...). To wit:

Dynamic Warmup (really?): 20 each of the following: squats, side lunges, knee drives, jumping jacks, arm circles, bird dogs, reverse lunges with rotations. Go get some weights.

Circuit 1: 25 of each unless otherwise stated: goblet squats, axe chops, cross countries for 60 seconds (Hi Def loves ‘em), lateral squats - ok, we didn’t know what was a lateral squat, so we opted for holding the weights (I used 10s), doing 20 squats to curls to presses, bent over rows, burpee jumps (I think we did 10). Relax and repeat. On the repeat, we replaced the squat curl to presses with power squats/no weights for a minute, and the burpee jumps to burpees with side planks.

Circuit 2: Reverse lunge floor touch (seriously psychotic because it makes you go really deep on the lunge in order to bend over to touch the floor), ball pushups (we did 20), ski jumps for 60 seconds (RIGHT … let’s get real … we did them, but I know I petered out at least twice), stiff leg dead lifts, push presses, squat jacks. We did not have time to repeat this whole circuit.

Not as much chatter because we had to concentrate on counting … oy vey.

So here’s our question: what the heck is a lateral squat? I still don’t know.

The good news is we showed up and did the workout at all. Bear was sweating rather profusely (ok, when don’t I sweat?), but in a good way.

Hopefully, Chris had fun taking his daughter to her first day of school!
