Prepare for CPR ...

Aug 08, 2013 17:22

Seriously, I felt like I was having a heart attack, and I don’t mean because I was swooning over Chris. We worked hard today!

Warm up: Jumping jacks. Squats. Reverse lunges. Forward arm circles. Backward arm circles. Go get some light weights (for me 7.5s).

Circuit 1: Push presses, relatively fast (first time, I did 46, the next 47). Squats with weights at shoulders. Drop your weights. Squat jacks. Pick up your weights. Bent over tricep back extensions, bring forward to bicep curls. Then something else. Repeat whole circuit.

Circuit 2: Line up to do stuff across the room. Oy vey. It’s not dreadmills, but it’s not far off. Lunges across and back. Bear crawls across and back. Bears across, crabwalks back. Lunges one more time for good measure. Get back in line. Pick up your weights, lateral raises. Short break. Repeat whole thing, except for one of the acrosses and backs, do inchworms (bend over at waist, walk your hands out to a front plank, walk your legs up to your hands, then keep repeating … like an inchworm). Also, do jump squats across the room and back. How could I forget those delightful things? When you get back in place, pick up weights, do straight leg dead lifts. Then do the lateral raises.

Circuit 3: Pick up your weights, deep squats with weights in center between legs. Drop your weights, do burpees with side planks. Pick up your weights, reverse lunges with weights. Drop your weights, do some mountain climbers. Sumpin, sumpin else … I can’t remember the last things we did.

All this exercise is not as good for my memory as one might believe from reading all about the benefits of exercise … I can only hope my major benefit is better physical health. Although I did warn Chris to prepare to deliver CPR at one point because I was sucking air big time. I won’t say my heart felt like it would blow, but it was working hard.

Conversation today was around such delightful topics as: Chris’s facial injury … apparently stationery pieces of wood attached to his deck have a way of jumping into his face from time to time … He’s ok, and will no doubt recover. I might have called them scratches, but they were on the side of his face I don’t really see as much. No pizza talk today. We did discuss the geezer actor population vis a vis the Sly Stallone comment on Bruce Willis’ being a jerk (which apparently he is) and he’s not in the Expendables 3, whatever that is.

We did comment on some dude who insists on wearing booty shorts into the gym. The comment was: if Chris wore those, he could probably increase the number of people in his class … but does he want to? That’s the question. I’m going to say, based on results, the answer might be no, since I have yet to see him post in that sort of attire.

We do have standards … minimal though they are. We also talked about writing a book some day … or in my case, ghost writing someone’s book … I’m totally cool with doing that.

Cheers.
