Strength Focus

Today, we focused on strength … me, the Crab and Jaynie. Chris just tortured us, but hey, that’s about the same as it always is, right?

Squats, go. Alternating side lunges, go. Go get your weights, and not some light weights, there, Bear, but real weights. So I did 12.5s … ugh.

Hold them shoulder height, squats, go. Dead lifts, go. Bent over rows, go. Get a SB (that’s stability ball for those of us who cannot remember what SB is). Drop your weights, front planks on the ball … Pick up your weights, head and shoulders on the ball, presses, elbows close in, hips up. Get up, get a MB (that’s medicine ball to you uneducated ones …). Down to the floor, extend up overhead. Keep doing it. We probably did another MB exercise … something like, tricep extension. Then calf raises with ball overhead. Then repeat whole circuit, except on the dead lifts, do straight leg this time. Ok, take a break.

Next circuit: pick up your weights. Squats with weights at shoulder height, go. Shorter dead lifts (for the Bear anyway, because I was feeling a twinge in my lower back). Drop one weight, hold other overhead in both hands, tricep extension. Keep weight overhead, calf raises. Ok, let’s be clear, I’m screwing up the order here … I don’t remember it. On the stability ball, do some more chest presses, out a little wider, still keeping hips up. With the MB, lower ball on right hand side, rotate and extend ball overhead on left hand side and keep doing it. Then switch to other side. Pick up your weights. Right side lunges until told to stop, then switch to left side lunges. Stand in place, push presses until your arms fall off. Ok, that’s what it felt like. In point of fact, no arms actually fell off anyone. Just sayin. Bicep curls. More arms falling off, so to speak. There were probably more calf raises with one weight overhead. Repeat whole circuit.

It’s been 8 hours since the workout, so pardon my memory. Then we cooled down with stretches, but I had a meeting to go to, so I left at that point. Why cool down, when I’m going to do my favorite part of the workout (sorry, Chris): the shower! I love showering because 1) it means the workout is over (YAY), and 2) it means I won’t be so stinky or disgusting (well, it doesn’t change my personality, but it’s more of a physical thing).

Missed Dolores and Russkaya …

Ok, back to my work.

PS Sorry I forgot to post on Friday. We did a great core workout (is that an oxymoron?) and then I was overwhelmed by actual work in the afternoon before heading to Lancaster to see Mom and Dad and Mary.
