[ the feed clicks on and promptly, a voice follows. it comes through with a clipped, practiced inflection, though largely distorted. it becomes obvious that the voice is speaking through another device, and not directly into the commlink ] This is Captain Robert Cross. BLACKWATCH personnel, respond. Any of you boys still breathing out there? Please respond for a headcount.
[ a raspy grunt ] This is Captain Robert Cross. Red Crown, please respond.
[ a pause, followed by a far more bemused tone ] Didn't think so. Shit. Well... at least our tracks are covered. Christ, did... did it do all of this??
[ there's shifting, then a brisk sigh. his voice is a bit clearer now. seems as though he decided to give the commlink a try ] I guess I'll see what I can get on this channel. Anyone out there? I'm trying to locate a man called Alex Mercer. [ a chuckle ] I can't clean up this mess all by my lonesome. Any information about his whereabouts would be appreciated.
