Rain victim makes miracle recovery; final death count stands at 34

Hospital staff are pleased to announce that Maurice Jackson, celebrating his sixteenth birthday next Friday, is recovering well following the incident with the collapsing roof in last week's rainfall that claimed the lives of both of his parents. Maurice's mother threw her body over his to shield him from the falling water in a heroic effort that saved his life, and for a while it was touch and go whether or not the teenager would survive, but doctors worked throughout the weekend ceaselessly to ensure his best chances.

Head of staff Linda Jackson said "I had full faith in my staff to save this boy's life, and they did everything that they needed to to ensure he pulled through. This is a victory for healthcare here in the city." Eyewitness Ltd. have paid the boy's hospital bills in exchange for his story as soon as he recovers enough to offer it.

Gunmen wanted in sweet shop robbery

ACRO officers are in pursuit of two men who held up a shopkeeper yesterday afternoon, stealing more than seven hundred dollars from his till and at the same time frightening a mother and child who were in the shop at the time. One man - described as being in his thirties with dark brown hair that fell over his eyes and a very long beard - stopped only long enough to steal a piece of rock candy straight from the child's hands before their ensuing escape. The other is described as being in his twenties with short, coarse blond hair and blue eyes.

During the pursuit that followed ACRO officers opened fire, and it is believed that the younger of the two was struck with a bullet only to escape. A civilian identified as Grant Turner was caught in the crossfire and died later due to his injuries, and officers are being investigated as a result.

ACRO would like to offer a reward for any information offered that leads to the capture of the individuals involved.

DeVille faces court again, prosecution optimistic

Legendary black market gangster Devaste DeVille was arrested yesterday on charges of possession of unprocessed items with intent to sell. DeVille has seen the inside of the courtroom several times but has never served any kind of sentence in regard to his activities, prompting uneasiness among those who have seen cases against him crumble in the past, but city prosecutors were certain that they would be able to see him sent to jail this time.

Martin Lloyd, high prosecutor, spoke of his confidence discreetly: "DeVille has escaped justice many times, and while I cannot share anything of the case with the press in good conscience should it disrupt the trial, I would like to insist that the city trust us: the third time is the charm, I promise."

Naturally DeVille had plenty of time, and was heard to shout as he was ushered into ACRO headquarters for questioning: "They haven't a single thing on me. I don't know why they even fucking bother."
