28 deaths caused by rain, 17 in critical condition

Rolling thunderstorms followed the midweek rain that tore at Boston, washing away and neutralising the radiation that had threatened to linger otherwise. The rains have claimed 28 lives so far, but the death count continues to rise.

While twenty two of the deaths were attributed to direct exposure to the rain, two people died in a motorcycle accident while travelling at high speed to escape it, and a family of three sheltering in a single room flat suffered from exposure when their bowing roof subsided, drenching them in standing water. The couple's son, fifteen year old Maurice Jackson, remains in intensive care in part due to his mother's heroic response, throwing herself over him as the ceiling came down. Two further deaths were caused as a result of a prank gone wrong when during an acid storm party drinks were intentionally contaminated with rainwater. The city's prosecutors will decide whether or not this case will be treated as accidental or not.

Further people are being treated in the hospital with varying degrees of exposure, with no less than seventeen in a critical condition even today, two days later after the rains stopped.

Sanctimonia petitions for new members, condemns victims

Sanctimonia spokeswoman Heda chose this evening to express the church's exhuberance following the rains, despite the tragedy of the lives lost. "Our beautiful church will be holding a festival to celebrate the refilling of our baptism pool and the freeflowing water from our fonts, praise be! Everything is looking heavenly, and the Matriarch will be looking forward to admitting many visitors over the next few days."

Medical authorities in the city warn that exposure to radioactive water is detrimental to health, and even lethal. ACRO are investigating claims against the church as a matter of course, but no further details have been revealed to the press on the matter.

When questioned Heda went on, representing the church, to express an opinion on the deaths caused by the falling rain. "Those who have no respect for the purifying qualities of nature are bound to be hurt by it. As regrettable as it is that people have died, death is sadly the fate of those who do not believe."
