So as you probably all know, I am a huge Biggest Loser fan. Seeing people overcome so many different health obstacles is super inspiring to me! Well the other thing I love about the show is the little tips and tricks you can learn!
About two weeks ago, Bob was making sandwiches with a bunch of the contestants, and he brought up the use of Avocado. I began realizing that I had never even tried avocado! I know it's in the awesome guacamole that I used to smear on my buffalo chicken fajitas at Chili's (ahh... the memories lol) but besides that I was clueless to even what an avocado was! The next day at the grocery store, I was feeling adventurous and picked one up... and I am so glad I did!
I remembered that on the show, Bob said that an avocado was a great spread for a sandwich. I had to Google how to cut it (I know, I'm such a dork lol) because this was completely foreign to me. I sliced it, scooped out the inside, and whipped it into a nice creamy spread! I made myself a smoked turkey sandwich on Light White Wonder Bread with two slices of Kraft Fat Free Singles and some romaine lettuce. I spread the avocado on, and I was ready to rock and roll!
I was so pumped at the outcome! The avocado added this new flavor to my sandwich, and I absolutely loved it! I remember Bob saying that an ounce of avocado was 50 calories and also contained the healthy fats that we need in a well balanced diet. I only used about half an ounce, it was more than enough for my sandwich!
I actually just polished off another version of this delectable meal! I have been so crazy hung up on Thomas' Bagel Thins. They are only 110 calories and have 5 grams of fiber! To top it all off, they are delicious! I just had another turkey sandwich on a toasted Everything Bagel Thin with cheese and avocado... Mmm mmm mmm! So good!
I totally recommend trying out the avocado as a sandwich spread! Try it out! Let me know what you think! :)
