He calls to me though he does not know it yet. I scent him, catch a trace upon the slight breeze. I dip my muzzle into the tracks upon the snow ( Read more... )

I began to skin the deer, slicing and cutting good size chunks of meat while I worked. Later I'd go around and let everyone know I was going to have a freezer full of venison if anyone was interested. Maybe someone might actualy take me up on the offer this time.

As I sliced, the wolf within began to bristle, warn me about some danger. Stopping, I looked around, but didn't pick up on anything. Shrugging my shoulders I continued until the entire hide was removed. Have to scrape all the hair off if I wanted to use it all for leather. Too much work. I'd just tan the inside.

Something rustled in the brush and I whirled around, knife clenched in my fist. If it was one of those soldiers, he'd be very sorry to mess with me. "Why don't you come on out so I can see you, I know you're there."

I ghost around the edges of the clearing, watching him as he works at a carcass. Using tools of the two-legs to shred the meat and hide away. The rich scent of the blood and offal mixes with his sharp scent, and I lick my chops involuntarily. How long has it been since I'd filled my belly ( ... )

Heard a growling sound from the bushes, and I knew this wasn't a soldier. It was something... different. The wolf inside me was snarling and howling up a storm. Never had a reaction like this to anything before ( ... )

"Good wolf, nice wolf." I know she doesn't understand anything that I'm saying but as long as I keep my tone nice and soft, it shouldn't sound too threatening ( ... )

I watch as the metal claw is put away and more meat is cut for me. He holds it out in his paw. Does he think I will take it from him like a tame dog? I cannot help salivating at the sight and scent of it though ( ... )

I could see her debating on grabbing the meat from my hand. If she didn't I was just going to toss it on the ground and get back to what I was doing. She's still growling, but it wasn't the same as before.

Knew what she was going to do right before it happened, I just didn't have enough time to pull back. The wolf's teeth bit down on my arm and I had to keep myself from hurting her. At least she didn't take a chunk out of my flesh. After letting go, she ran off into the woods.

Stood there for a few minutes, swearing up a storm while blood ran down my arm. Why did I get the feeling that was some kind of payback? A wolf that didn't act like a proper wolf. Had a feeling she'd be back though. If she had gone through all this trouble to show up at my doorstep, no way would she just go back to the woods.

Walking back to the carcass, I hacked the legs off the deer and set them down in the bushes near the place the wolf had run off. I needed to take a shower and bandage my arm up. Weird day.
