- Fabricated new spare tire fastener
- Replaced wiper washer hose between nozzles
Since I've been mounting my spare tire upside down in order to gain additional storage space, I have been wanting to use a shorter fastener bolt. I took a shorter bolt and ground the head down, then inserted it into a large wingnut and welded it in place. It's not as pretty as I had hoped it would be, but it's much easier to use. I've sprayed it with some paint in an effort to fend of oxidation, but I'm not sure how well the paint will hold up with use. I think that I might try again with another bolt and wingnut using a slightly different method. The other option would be to get a second fastener from another Miata (since I don't want to modify the original) and cut it down shorter. I'm not sure which method I would prefer just yet, so we shall see.
I also used some plastic elbows and new washer fluid hose in order to keep the elbows from rubbing on the hood bracing where the new Tribute nozzles are shorter than the old nozzles.
