- Got a front end alignment, sort of...
- Replaced A/C tensioner pulley, almost...
- Readjusted front left alignment
::sigh:: Disappointment abounds today.
I took the front end in to get the toe adjusted and despite my constant reminders that I didn't want them to touch anything but the tie-rod ends, the service advisor failed to instruct the tech not to do a full 4-wheel alignment. Thankfully, he had only been messing with one corner before I intervened, but he apparently failed to get it back to the exact setting that it had been beforehand, because the left front caster is higher than the right front caster and the car now tugs ever-so-slightly to the right. I had him set the toe to zero degrees.
Additionally, I picked up a new idler pulley from work, but it appears to have a different bearing and did not include an appropriate adapter sleeve. (ಠ_ಠ) I've got another one ordered from Dallas, but that won't be here until Thursday.
After finding some specs regarding adjustment of the suspension alignment cams, I was able to readjust the driver side front suspension to where I believe it was prior to the situation this afternoon. This should effectively bring the toe in slightly on that side, and I also brought the toe in just a smidge on the passenger side. The car seems to steer better now with only the faintest hint of a tug to the right. Not enough that I will really notice while driving, except perhaps on the flattest and straightest of roads. Should be good enough until I get the depowered rack rebuilt and put back on the car (and this time get a full front end alignment again).
