Cake time!
Stayed up late last night to bake since it was too hot to do it during the day. It was actually a lot of fun since I was splitting time between cooking and watching episodes of The Guild. These two layers are cooling while the chocolate layers are in the oven.
So...my homemade frosting turned out more like sugar cookie icing. Which did not lend itself very well to cake frosting. But I figured it might work so I gave it a go. (I'm also stubborn...and cheap)
Note the shininess.. I did manage to do the whole ziploc bag trick to decorate a bit. And I even managed to color a portion of the icing green to make ivy! For some reason this section of ivy looks a little like a treble clef.
The icing/frosting/science experiment just basically dripped down and fell off the sides of the cake completely. But it looks nice from the top! And the best part is that the cake itself is delicious! Yay!
