so it goes that time brings change and change brings livejournal updates. since much time has passed since my last entry, you'd assume that some things have changed since then. boy golly, you sure are smart! why, in fact, they HAVE changed! Hooray!
I done did it and asked my boss if I could go part time to focus on freelancing while still bringing in an income. It couldn't have been more respectfully recieved. He agreed to it, and as soon as things are in order, I'll be working here 25 hours a week. This is such a relief. I'll also get paid an hourly freelance rate to do any extra work for him when it's needed. Hooray!
So given that new development, I decided to buy a Mac. I haven't bought it yet. But I've got my eye on a couple models - I'll probably get a 17 inch PowerBook. Any suggestions on this are welcome since I've never purchased a computer before and this is the first time I've ever been conscious of all the options for buying a Mac... I'm also going to have to spend a shitload of money on new software. Hooray!
Saturday night was Tina's Lance's birthday party. They had it at their lovely newly acquired house and the food was (as to be expected) delicious. truffle honey, cheese, hummus, that sorta thing. I've just realized that the majority of this journal entry has been about plans to buy, things that have been bought, and professional money-making situations. I'm getting old! Hooray!
In non-money news, the garden David and I started out front is flourishing! Carrots, basil, thyme, nasturtiums, tarragon, sage, cosmos, poppies....soon it will be in full bloom. I'll go ahead and add that "Hooray!" should be a given at the end of each paragraph.
I want to get a cat from the humane society.
I also want to get one of those iRobot smart vacuums.... a RED one!
Okay, I know I used to say how much I hated American Idol. But I've been lured in. Most of my attraction to the show lies in the hatred I have for a few former contestants. They're gone now, and I still want to watch. I thought I'd lose interest after Mikayla Gordon got booted. But as much as I hated her, I started hating Constantine just as much. Now he's gone, and Paula's probably hitting rock bottom as I type. But I'm just not satisfied! While I sat there hating the two objects of my attention (giving them exactly what they want!), I developed a fondness for Vonzell. And even Anthony impressed me when he got Heather Locklere's daughters to start grinding in the seats they held next to their mother. (eeew). It's not hatred anymore. These people have become Idols in my own eyes. I'm so ashamed.
But then House comes on and I feel good about myself again. I have a weird crush on Hugh Laurie.
David and I went to Pastiche a few nights ago. It was delicious to an unusual degree. So we were shocked when we got the cheese plate we ordered. The manchego smelled like an ear infection our upstairs neighbor's cat had recently. I couldn't eat very much of it even though we masked most of the smell/flavor with honeycomb. But the duck liver terrine and stuffed dates (with shaved foie gras!) we ordered were fantastic.
Anyway, I guess I ought to do some work. Stay away from the Manchego at Pastiche!
