TL;DR

So, the fanficranting and fanficrantingranting comms have been... um, interesting lately. My thoughts on yaoi.

This particular case is unfortunate. The OP of the wank and the other reviewer both went in with their sarcasm guns, which would make anyone disinclined to follow their advice or do what they say. Hey, it's the internet. People get their snark on, it's not the worst thing that ever happened to anyone. (It probably happens to everyone eventually).

The author got pissed. Um, surprise? Wouldn't you? She fires back. Totally normal internet behavior. (In this case, I think it was BNF[?] reviews, author replies, W!OP review/replies, author replies again) As part of her return fire, author lets slip she's 12.

SUDDENLY IT'S THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD. Um, not quite.

Now, continuing to fire on all bitch is not cool. Please don't pick on middle schoolers, they probably get enough of it. Also, what does it say about you? Yeah.

However, I think that in general, if you're old enough (whether by guideline or your own decision. And she wasn't old enough to post on FFN, actually) to post your fanfic online, you're old enough to get shitty reviews. Everyone gets shitty reviews/ flames/ whatevers. Being young should not automatically excuse you. Should you go after young fic authors to torment them? Probably not. But leaving something omgmeen and then finding out they're 13/12/some sort of child prodigy/whatever doesn't make you any omgmeener. Promise.

In other news, one more exam (tomorrow, COMS) and I'm done! Then it's time for B:TASshenanigans! :D :D :D (Well, technically, Shenanigans Day is Thursday-Friday. But anyway.)

troll! in the dungeon!, fail
