10 become 10 we hope etc etc

I enjoyed the sixties medley routine, the dancing was crisp, anyway, even if the narrative was jumbled (Motsi and Amy go “shopping”, their clothes change colour…say “ooh.”) Grazziano must have tested negative, then, as he was there.

Nice detailing and accessorising lifted Tess’s otherwise boring black dress, Claudia wore patterned trousers!, Shirley chillaxed in a white suit and Motsi sorted herself out in a bright red dress with possibly a little too much ruffle, but it was so much better than the previous outfit. I’m not sure that Anton changed, old habits dying hard, but Craig did.

Watched the recap carefully, and Rhys’s comments were mixed, while nearly everyone else’s were all positives, bar the rumbas at the bottom. Instructive

Called safe: everyone in the top half bar Rose. Not safe: Rhys. How his little face fell! Shirley gave him one piece of useful advice to focus on, but then trotted out the pointless “I’m shocked! Vote,” when it’s clear the VP have voted for their favourites, and they were lower down than Rhys. I presume that some of it is that Rhys has always had natural talent, but seems to have been pretty much at the same level, good with some mistakes, the Spider-man couples choice apart, while others are on the J word.

While I liked the tone of the other one with the weird name’s voice, he (?) made me really appreciate Craig David’s crisper enunciation, which is not something I thought I’d type, but never mind that, THE DANCING. Neil and Dianne gave this rather thrilling mix of commercial and hip hop and Latin. I loved them.

Craig did give some technical reasons for why he hadn’t seen fantastic (or even half-decent) rumbas, and I wished that Claudia had let the other judges come in to debate this point, but that’s not the format.

Rose was quickly saved in the last batch, which meant that if Rhys hadn’t lost it in his disappointment he’d be saved, and it came down to the rumbas eventually, Ugo’s rumba was the poorest and his back might give out again in other dances, so despite all the cute kids he’d deployed, he was under the red light.

I was as charmed as ever by Rose’s excitement and attitude towards Giovanni, and very excited that she’ll do a tango, given All THE DRAMA of the VW.

Dance-off: Rhys did improve his frame and was so many air miles better than Ugo that for once we had a clear, unanimous decision. Ugo spoke well (his background playing in a team showed) and Oti seemed a bit panicked that she’d be Janetted, but all it is is that you’re not going to get a third glitter ball this year, Oti. Chill.

ITT Monday:Amy is determined to turn Tom’s children into future pros, isn’t she? Rylan’s birthday cake! (On the other hand, I'm getting tired of the 'it's only 6.30 on the BBC' line. Fair enough that Ugo was disappointed about not doing his American Smooth as he’d put so many days in before the back problem.
