Recs 6/?
Fanvid and fanfic recs in the following fandoms: The Avengers (TV), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, The Incredibles, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Avengers (TV)
Short Skirt, Long Jacket: hepburned (Emma Peel)
A fizzing tribute vid to the marvellous Mrs Peel (nails of justice!)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Impossibilities: ljs (Giles/Anya, season 6 AU, R)
This is lovely and smashing. I loved seeing what built between them in the brokenness of season 6. As the author says, it’s only a step or two from canon.
Harry Potter
Phantasia: Dar_vidder (gen, spoilers for all the films)
I’ve never seen a vid like this, partly because of its length (you can watch it section by section). It’s Harry Potter set to the music of Disney’s Fantasia. It gives a different view of the series. I loved the sharply differentiated, themed opening sections, and of course it all became darker. I can see why the magic connection made joining this canon and this music come to mind, and, particularly, all the flight, the central image of the Trio was just as prevalent.
The Incredibles
Mode-rn Bride: Qoheleth (gen, background Bob/Helen, pre-film)
Edna takes measurements for Helen's wedding gown, and they talk brides and wives and supers filling those shoes. It's enjoyable. Edna is as idiosyncratic as ever, Helen and Bob are loved up and younger, and the reader knows what's going to happen.
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
A Good Memory is Unpardonable: daisysusan (Lizzie/Darcy)
I really liked the exploration of one of the likely consequences of Lizzie and Darcy's relationship, and Lizzie's musings about this, plus what or who is important to her.
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Thor
The Tenth Kingdom: Margo-Kim Sif/Loki, pre-canon, multi-chap, strong teen for violence, torture and sex.
Sif talks Loki into a quest, and it’s well worth joining them for the ingenuity displayed by the writer, the characterisation and the relationship development. A few SPAG issues throughout.
It was supposed to be a quiet hike. The dragon was an interesting twist.
Avengers
A design for life: purple_cube (Bruce, Natasha ficlet, can be read as pre Bruce/Natasha)
Very good on these two coming to understand each other post Avengers.
Doctor Strange
Coming Home: Elycien Post-movie, gen with background Stephen/Christine
Lovely hurt/comfort. This takes the weight of what happened in the film seriously. All the character voices are good, but especially Wong's.
By the end of the year, I do hope to reach fandoms towards the end of the alphabet!
