NCIS: LA 4.21 Resurrection

This was mainly about parenthood (although nobody made an explicit link between reproduction as a form of resurrection), with Kensi starting off by falling into a trap laid by the three guys, claiming she was a child hater and being too busy protesting she wasn’t to see the trap she’d fallen into. Deeks in particular took it up and was basically going ‘but I want you to have my babies, with me (joking) (not really)’ all episode. I could have done with an extra scene of Kensi/Deeks playing squabbling Mom and Dad them-style as a form of reassuring Javier/messing with his mind before we got to the boathouse stuff, where everyone had a chat about father figures. I loved Kesni’s awkward hug of ‘the kid’ who needed a mother figure. And we ended up on Mama Hetty, probably expecting grandchildren.

In between, I could have done with more Spanish - Kensi thanking the barman (Kensi and Deeks moving away from the barman’s hearing to discuss cops and informants would have helped with the whole super agents thing), Javier and the not dead kingpin should have reverted to Spanish.

As for Javier, that boy’s face was remarkable. I found myself staring at his features - the delineated eyes, generous nose and mouth and thinking of Picasso.

I wasn’t sure that Sam was telling the truth about his never-ending debrief. We only got one instance of one of our lot pretending to be someone else, and partly because I hadn’t realised the voice was Captain Ahab’s being played back, I thought it was Sam, not Callen. But with all their resources, Eric could surely have found more sound recordings somewhere of Captain Ahab. Eh, let’s pretend it was time pressure.

I was slow to realise quite how much of a set-up the ambush of Kensi and Deeks was, because I thought they were quite cavalier, no vests, piddly little pistols compared to the hardware aimed at them. And I still think that could have gone far more wrong. But I was getting tired by that point in the episode. Paris got a mention, so the show is still trying to make Callen/Paris a thing and team Red is probably coming back for the end of the season. I do not care as much as the show wants me to.
