It occurred to me, as I started speculating about the ending of the show, that I should get on with catching up with Revenge in case I get spoiled. I probably won’t because no-one seems to be watching it any more, which is why it’s coming to an end. But, just in case...
Revenge 4.16 Retaliation
It felt like this must have aired in the US after a little break.
Gina Torres’s Natalie said shindig! SHINY. However, even if that suggests the writer was a Browncoat, there were, as ever, some clunkers.
Although I liked Natalie around David, from the outset I felt she was way too into rubbing Victoria’s nose in it and that there must be more to the story than her falling Teddy Grayson’s way and marrying him.
How sweet was Emily calling David ‘Dad’ so naturally?
VanCamp played how Emily hated the awkwardness and that she’d hurt Jack and how things were between them perfectly.
Margiaux’s revenge was becoming kind of exhausting until she started becoming ‘desperate’ and attacking on all fronts,
Heh, Emily listened to Nolan, who is definitely not pro Emily/Ben, seeing as he’s so invested in Emily/Jack. Classic “what is this then?” after Ben got punched expression from Emily before the break. The roadtrip kept not quite panning out as I envisaged/hoped - I kept expecting Ben to be revealed to be less over April/Kym than he was. All told, that was a waste of Sarah Lancashire! That is, she was good in the part, but deserved for the part to be bigger.
Hairstyles: I didn’t like Victoria’s waves, but Louise’s big-hair plaits were FRIGHTENING. But I like Margiaux’s growing-out style.
Jack is back to where he was. Except it’s not his boat and as bartender, he has to advise Nolan about his fake marital weirdness.
Okay, so having Lymond be on Margiaux’s retainer really was great - it would have been better if they hadn’t even bothered with him being Victoria’s lawyer thing. Him as a wedge between Louise and Nolan was much better. (‘You didn’t ask me’ WAS controlling, N.)
Ugh, why was Natalie’s real motivation SO LAME? A character played by the delightful Gina Torres deserved more than being yet another of Conrad’s mistresses.
David/Victoria sparks!
Louise, a second family member falls to his death around you? Oh, baby doll.
All told, crazy escalation there at the end.
