I wrote fic in April
So, I’ve been posting fic (ficlets really) recently. The latest three are: Chalet (Gotham) 570 words. Summary: Bruce and Selina, now and later, seeking shelter. (Spoilers for 1.13 Welcome Back, Jim Gordon.)
Anniversary (The Mentalist) Double drabble. Jason Wylie/Michelle Vega. Summary: One year on. (Diverges from canon at a certain point in 7.10 ‘Nothing Gold Can Stay’.)
Elevation (The Mentalist) 365 words. Jason Wylie/Michelle Vega. Summary: He is so proud of her. (Takes place after Anniversary, although you don’t have to have read that.)
I wanted to post the last two before the last ever episode of The Mentalist aired in the UK, even if I didn’t plan on watching it, and during April as I’d written them then, making April quite a productive month for me. (Five fics, one 1,600+ long, thanks to a combination of Easter and canonical events.)
I wanted to write about Bruce at the chalet and his feelings for Selina immediately after 'Welcome Back, Jim Gordon'. To my pleased surprise, as I did so, a future where he succeeded in taking her to the chalet poured out too. I’m rather chuffed that I found a way to write BatCat for Gotham’s Bruce and Selina.
After they killed off Vega in The Mentalist, I IMMEDIATELY had to write fix-it fic of the fluffy HEA variety. A series of ficlets poured out the same night, so they belong together in one continuity as far as I’m concerned, although they deal with different stages in Wylie/Vega’s relationship. I am currently undecided as to whether I’ll post the third or write more.
(I am perfectly aware that these are all male POVs, as were the other two Mentalist ficlets I wrote.) I watched 3.11 with an awareness of how different canon!Wylie was to the one I’d written, for obvious reasons, but it added another element to the watching. There’s something there about how I don’t love writing in open TV canon. But this time I did, because I wanted Wylie to be happy and for Wylie/Vega to work.
