The Musketeers 2.7 A Marriage of Inconvenience

Not a bad episode, actually. I do remembering wondering where the princess’s maidservant etc were when we first met her, but I never questioned who she was. I wondered who the assassin was, assuming it wasn’t Milady, because we’d have seen her at it, and anyway, she was dragging her heels over leaving the palace, and so not quite back to her old ways. ‘Francisco’ and ‘Louise’’s relationship didn’t quite track until the reveal that they were Assassins in Love. He was willing to ‘do the honourable’ thing, while she did her best to survive. I thought it would be Rochefort who would kill her, but no, it was Milady. Although I thought it would have been fun to see them be assassins together, I didn’t believe from the second she stepped into scene Milady would have spared her.

The plot trundled along effectively, most people got their moment. Captain, oh their Captain Treville was an idiot for suggesting Athos take his place. Yes, he’s sort of his second in command and a natural leader, but he’s also a sot and Milady affects his decision-making skills. She was never going to take his money, and he really should warn her about his sister in law. Not that I don’t expect Milady to survive and come out on top of that tussle, but it’d just be good manners.

Actually, as I was reading Rochefort suggesting Treville go present-hunting very differently to the characters, I was expecting Athos to warn Treville to be careful.

I’m glad everything he went through made Treville finally agree to tell Porthos the truth (next episode).

Constance and Aramis have this in common - a blithe belief that break-ups are going to be easy because they don’t love the dumpee. Um, no. Easier to sympathise with blackmailed Marguerite than Bonacieux and his belief that Constance was his property. Cursing D’Artagnan and Constance with his last breath? Charming.

I’m glad for his conscience’s sake that D’Artagnan turned back to help the dying Bonacieux, though.

Speaking of medical stuff, Lemay SO has a crush on Constance. (Is he being set up as an alternative now that the lovers are all cursed just as the wifebeating husband was conveniently removed?)

I felt for Anne being rejected by the King. In public. Again. The news that the crucifix was Rochefort’s gift to her is slightly retconny, but works for where they’re going with his brand of crazy. Which the Cardinal recognised. Ahaha. And now Rochefort has manoeuvred and killed his way (although he should try to hide the body better than he covered his tracks) into being the official right hand man.

He has also discounted Milady....it keeps coming back to her. Even though I was disappointed in her for being the baddie and letting Francisco attack Treville, she is fabulously compelling to watch, and the most likely to stop Rochefort in his tracks.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine 2.5 The Mole

Amusing as ever.

Having jumped back to see this, as soon as Jake asked Amy to give him a lift to fetch his files from his old apartment, I realised where it was going, i.e. they’d walk in on Gina and Charles. The matching robes threw me. But of course Gina broke up with him in public.

I wish Holt’s middle name was Jamiroquai.

Last night, I watched The Good Wife, but who knows when I'll get around to posting about that?
