Recs of fanfiction I enjoyed in 2011 (let's pretend it's not February).
Actor RPF
So yes, at the end of last year, I came across some Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling RPF. I could pretty much count all the other times I read RPF (in fandom) on one hand before this, and mostly they were parodic in natures. Maybe this was because there was no Crazy Stupid Love fic at the time. I'd like to try to say it was something to do with 2011 having been a big year for both of them, and they had immense amounts of chemistry, but I wasn't overthinking it when I dived into reading these fics...
I Could Stick Around (And Get Along With You): abvj (Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling, RPF, strong language, spoilers for Crazy Stupid Love)
This is yummy. (A few minor SPAG issues.)
and
Skimming the Surface a ficlet continuation.
lightning strikes the heart (don't you blink you might miss it): earnmysong (Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling RPF, strong language, again spoilers for CSL, although you probably wouldn't be interested in this 'ship if you hadn't seen that film.)
Another take on the 'thing' that is clearly more than a friendship.
these are the days when you wish your bed was already made She tells herself it's new, but she wonders if she's only now noticing what's been there all along.
The sequel to the above that you desperately neeed after finishing 'lightning...'
kissing corners: earnmysong
Again, adorable (although I found the ending genuinely abrupt and wouldn't have minded knowing what happened afterwards...)
don't forget to breathe: earnmysong
Telling interactions (or to be reductive, the story in which Friday Night Lights makes Emma Stone cry.)
metafanfiction
The Last Post: rheanna27 (Gen, horror).
Chilling.
Salt
A Name and a Country: ninhursag (Evelyn/Mike, teen and upwards).
The moment when Evelyn's loyalties changed.
Veronica Mars
Sometime: bigboobedcanuck (Veronica/Logan)
Loved the characterisations of Logan, Keith and Veronica, plus the show-like way other characters are weaved into this post-season 3 coda.
X-Men
Temporary: Penknife (Post-x3 Rogue gen.)
Five ways Rogue finds out nothing's permanent. This goes dark places, but very convincingly because of the way it builds on X3.
