Mmm Richard Armitage.

Um, I mean,'A review of Macbeth' - caught the last note of Eastenders so discovered that the BBC are branding his series (and branding is the only word) as ShakespeaRe Told. I want to find the person who suggested that, the one that approved it with a comedy fish in hand so I can slap their cheeks. Trendy thickos.

Review. A succinct one, honest. )

It was references a-go-go, wasn't it.

Way self-conscious - "the Scottish Chef" - heh

Major Cook, Thief, Wife, Lover rip-off ... well, Peter Greenaway generally) rip-off for the look and feel..

Very strong sense of men-only. Lady M the only woman with lines, and even the extras-as-set-dressing got tiny amount of screen time. Even the witches were male.

Overall - interesting ideas, fab acting, but not one to rewatch.

Hate to admit it, but I only got that now.

Major Cook, Thief, Wife, Lover rip-off ... well, Peter Greenaway generally) rip-off for the look and feel. I haven't seen anything by Greenaway, so I couldn't say.

Mmm, I was initially annoyed - oh they're the three witches, though the bin men grew on me, and I thought the updating of the poetry in the dialgoue worked best with them. You wouldn't expect gender balance with Shakespeare though, I mean IIRC it's only Hectate (sp?) and Lady M's maid that also have lines in the original play, and I did think that the kitchen worked as a fit in for the Scottish army.

Overall - interesting ideas, fab acting, but not one to rewatch. I'd agree with that, did you see the Much Ado retelling?

OMG. Run, don't walk and grab hold of "Drowning By Numbers." Seriously, it's definitely worth watching one or 2 up to Cook, Thief. After that he got a bit, well, much :o

did you see the Much Ado retelling? Much more underwhelmed, but I hate cover versions of favourite songs, so maybe I'm biased.

On the must watch list.

Mmm, the strongest feeling Much Ado inspired was to go see a thatraical production post haste. Still, I'm ridiculously looking forward to Shrew.
