loyalty is not forever

I've had such a bad day few weeks. I just want to curl up and cry.

Loyalty(n) : 1) The state or quality of being loyal; fidelity to a superior, or to duty, love, etc. 2) A feeling of devoted attachment and affection. Often used in the plural: My loyalties lie with my family. 3) The act of binding yourself intellectually or emotionally

When is it ok to break that allegiance? Is it ever? Because I have and my reasons are that the noun to which I was bound, supposedly forever, has become someone or something so unrecognizable that I not only don't respect this someone or something, I, in fact, would do anything to get away from them. Does that make it ok? I feel no guilt. Perhaps I should. Does that make it alright? I'm telling myself, "yes."
