Killer of the Week
Friday Five

Dr. Sam Waters (Ally Walker) joins the newly formed Violent Crimes Task Force, led by her mentor, Bailey Malone (Robert Davi), to probe a string of well-publicized arson fires in the South, until her anonymity is shattered -- providing Jack-of-all-trades, her murderous stalker, more clues to her whereabouts. As a result, Sam is forced to move with her daughter (Caitlin Wachs) and her best friend, Angel (Erica Gimpel), while she uses her skills to compose a profile of the self-destructive arsonist (Seth Peterson). John Diehl guest-stars.

Other Notes:

Jack's room (in Detroit?) has roses hanging from the ceiling, as well as a collage of pictures of Sam. This does not appear in his later lair(s).

Jack's blood type is O negative. In a continuity error, the message he sends Sam in this episode does not match the message he writes at the end of Insight. The handwriting is different.

Sam is not doing fieldwork at this point. However, after she is "outed" by reporters showing her face on TV, she decides to stop hiding. She even goes so far as to start using her real name again and to deliberately taunt Jack by saying his name.

Angel's farm has been in her family for over 100 years. Jack breaks into the house (did he know where she was all along?) and leaves Sam a bouquet of red roses tied with white lace and Tom's wedding ring.

Ways Jack has killed his victims: strangled, suffocated, beating, overdose, stabbing.

Sam must live very close to Atlanta, or John can teleport!

Bailey moves Sam into a firehouse guarded by FBI agents pretending to be firemen. Security is such that no one can get into the living area without Sam's, Angel's, or Chloe's palmprint. The glass is bulletproof and the doors are steel. The entire place is wired with cameras.

Jack poisoned Denzel (Angel's dog) but it was non-fatal.

John likes lesbians. ;)

Grace has been married to 22 years to her high school sweetheart. She has no children, but three poodles.

Quotes:

John: I should have known you'd have a couch in your office.

John: Nath and I are going to hit the streets, go banging on some doors. You want to tag along, see some real police work?
Sam: Uh, no, thanks. I'd just slow you down dragging that couch everywhere.

John: It's the 23rd Psalm.
Grace: Thank you, Sherlock!

John: You, uh ... you live with a woman?
Sam: Yeah.
John: Yeah?
Sam: Yeah. For three years.
John: Alternative lifestyle kind of thing, right?

Sam: It's like he's destroying perfection.
Bailey: Well, then, I'd better lock my doors.
Sam: Bailey, I think you'e quite safe.

Bailey: Hell, Sam, I have petunias and a picket fence.
Sam: I know. And I still find that very hard to believe.

Nathan: Doctor's making an early house call.
John: Think she's gonna get dirty?
Nathan: She's wearing black.

Sam: He enjoys the game and he is not finished with me yet. He will be back.

Bailey: Not everyone with scars grows up to be a monster.
