I don't watch NBC that often, especially now since Scrubs won't be showing new episodes until the New Year, but this evening, the station was on and I saw two commercials for the NBC drama called "The Medium", which starts in January.
According to the commercials, there's this woman (with a daughter I know for sure, but I think a husband too--wonder how long that'll last) who gets these psychic flashes to crime scenes. The tags make it sound like she can "see into the criminal mind" and that "seeing is believing", though if you look at imdb.com, you'll see that the description fits more of a Profiler meets The Sixth Sense: the woman can see dead people, and is trying to figure out how to use her gift to help others, and eventually, solve crimes. You can read about the show, cast and credits at the link below.

Granted, in Profiler, Sam's abilities were more like flashes, and something that wasn't so supernatural when you consider she trained to be a Profiler, and chances are, anyone properly educated could derive facts and whatnot like Sam could...she just pictured it happening. In this new show, it seems that the woman's ability is more supernatural...she sees the actual people, and they talk to her--it could be anywhere, like in her own home.
I don't know what to think. There's a part of me hoping the show will flop for how they treated Profiler, but who knows. It premieres on January 3rd at 9:00 pm est (which is a Monday), so if I remember, I might watch the pilot just to see how close the parallels are. Oh, but we do know the lead actress is a blonde with long hair. *grumbles*
My guess? A serial killer's going to become obsessed with her and will kill her husband out of spite (or something).
Thoughts?
