For those of you who don't keep track of such things,
Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday. For those not familiar with this event, it's really quite simple. Go to your local comic book store. Get free comics. Easy enough, right?
This is the fourth annual FCBD. It's an event to promote comic books, and a way for publishers to push their goods. Basically what happens is, publishers send comic books to stores to give away. Big publishers will print issues specially for the event. Smaller publishers will just send extra copies of things they have lying around. Most of the free stuff is crap. But there will inevitably be a few cool things. The website has a store locator, but almost all comic book shops participate. I don't know what they're doing this year, but last year, not all shops carried all the free comics. There were several lots, and different stores got different lots. So you may have to go to several shops to see all the free stuff that's available. As for myself, I'm going to
Mile High Comics, just south of Disneyland. Last year, they had everything, and you could basically take whatever you wanted. I recommend getting there right when they open (whenever that is).
Anyway, it's Saturday, and it's free.
