I hate to be asking this, I really do...

I'm sure a lot of you are aware of the shenanigans going on in LJ Land right now. A friend and I were talking, and it was suggested that maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to either set up a mirror for this community on Dreamwidth, or to actually import the comm when they get that feature up and running. A lot of the RP comms are preparing to move, ( Read more... )

A lot of cosmetic changes being made despite user protests (it's a long list ~_~). LJ employees being outright rude and publicly mocking users who profess unhappiness over said changes. There was a recent thing where LJ employees left creepy comments on users' LOCKED entries.

The big one is the removal of subject lines in comments, which is going to make some things very hard for fandom. And I recently saw somewhere that older comments left by other users or deleted users are starting to actually disappear from people's journals. There's...quite a list, a lot of little things that are adding up very quickly to make some people very unhappy.

Awww :( I would hope that we wouldn't have to move; I'm rather fond of LJ's filters and broad selection of management settings. Plus, I just renewed my account for another year XD

So maybe I'm one of the few who don't mind the changes, but I'm happy here. I'll follow you guys wherever though, but that's my 2 cents.

I have a DW journal and would be just as happy if you mirrored/moved to DW.

Actually, I'm pretty fond of LJ so I'd prefer if the community remained here. But I understand there are a lot of people unhappy of the new changes... Personally I haven't had big deals because I don't have paid accounts nor I find the lack of subject lines that much of a problem (though pretty uncomfortable, yes), but knowing the way LJ employees acted makes me pretty upset.
I don't know, if there was the possibility to keep the community here and on Dreamwidth at the same time it would be perfect I guess... personally I don't feel like doing an account on Dreamwidth too, at least for the moment.

I think maybe I'm an exception 'cuz I have a paid account (2 actually!) and I actually like the changes, aesthetically. They've yet to cause me any problems. I honestly didn't even know there were complaints.

As far as I know the complaints came principally from who followed kink memes/fan memes and things like that, since the lack of a subject line there is very problematic. I too wouldn't have known about this polemic hadn't I followed some though.
But it seems that what made people really upset was the attitude of LJ employees, which apparently has been rude and disregarding users' opinions and preferences, and I can't really say anything on that.
