Layton fanmade music album

Oct 29, 2011 15:14

Yay! I've finally finished my grand project, which was to create an album with original tracks inspired by the Professor Layton series. There are 25 tracks in total, each focusing on a location, character(s) or event from the games and movie. There are a wide range of genres - jazz, rock, drum & bass & orchestral - so hopefully there's something for everybody. Please have a listen when you have a spare moment and tell me what you all think! :)

Spoilers for Unwound/Lost Future and Eternal Diva in the descriptions.

Track descriptions

1: London Life (Jazz)
At the end of a hard day's work solving mysteries all over London, there's nothing like a cream tea, a newspaper and a smooth jazz song to take one's mind off things.

2: Napoleon of Crime (Soundtrack)
This track came about as a result of reading Employment Opportunity by SamCyberCat, and explores the AU scenario: what if the professor was a criminal mastermind ruling over London?

3. What Lies Within ~ Herzen Castle (Soundtrack)
For Halloween! Because a spooky castle needs a suitably spooky introduction.

4: Pursuit (Soundtrack)
Descole makes a speedy getaway.

5: Claire (Orchestral)
Layton plays the piano and thinks about his lost love. :(

6: Sky Battle for London (Orchestral)
A fast-paced air battle/chase between Layton and Don Paolo, high above central London and with the river Thames down below.

7: Gilded Seven Casino 1 (Jazz)
A track about the Family run casino from the third game, one of two tracks.

8: Laytonmobile 1 (Rock)
Layton is in his iconic car, on a road trip around the English countryside.

9: Cucumber Sandwiches (Rock & Roll)
Flora attempts to cook lunch, but fails miserably, and so ends up making...

10: Jailbirds (Blues)
Clive and Dimitri do some time in prison for their crimes.

11: Professor of Archaeology (Gypsy Jazz)
Layton is one busy person! This is in a Parisian swing style originating from the 1930s.

12: La Famiglia (Italian Folk)
It's not easy being a Family thug, not when you've got an ogre like Bostro hovering over you all the time.

13. The Spectre Attacks (Soundtrack)
This is... what I think is going on in the cover art for the fourth game. Have to wait until Christmas to actually play this game, though.

14: The Phantom Town (Orchestral)
The town of Folsense, where it's always night.

15: Piccadilly Circus (Latin Jazz)
Another mystery sees Layton, Luke and Flora travelling around London's West End, where music, dance, theatre and bright lights prevail above all else.

16: Gilded Seven Casino 2 (Jazz)
Second track about the casino in the Lost Future.

17: Laytonmobile 2 (Rock)
Time for another road trip in the trusty red car.

18: Man on a Mission (Soundtrack)
Inspector Grosky is the Duracell bunny - once on a case, he keeps going and going. And going.

19: What Lies Within ~ Pandora's Box (Orchestral)
What does the box hold? Death? Despair? Destruction? Or... hope?

20: The Final Puzzle (Soundtrack)
Layton goes up against the clock in a deadly puzzle. Named after "The Final Problem" Sherlock Holmes story.

21: A True Gentleman (Drum & Bass)
Luke will do anything to prove that he's a true gentleman. Inspired by his epic performance on top of the Detragiganto towards the end of Eternal Diva.

22: Altava Heights (Drum & Bass)
Emmy kicks arse. The end.

23: Tomorrow's World (Dubstep)
Dedicated to all the engineers/scientists/inventors of the Layton world. Named after a BBC TV programme which used to show the latest science and technology.

24: The Spectre's Call (Dubstep)
What is the secret behind the spirit of Misthallery?

25: Broken Man (Soundtrack)
It was bitter desperation that drove Dimitri to kidnap those scientists.
