HI GUYS, QUICK COUPLE STORIES FROM NYCC:
-
marlenanargle and I set out at the beginning of the day to find ten Tens, and we SUCCEEDED. Two of them were women (I have dubbed them "Tennes") and two of them were... dudes in pinstripes we decided to count because we were desperate, and one of them was like a twelve-year-old and was SUPER PRESH. The eighth Ten had LUXURIOUS hair and a ginger on his arm... who'd dressed up as Rose from Idiot's Lantern, despite her other options, which gives her a million cool points in my book. Also spotted: four Fours, three Elevens, an Amy and a Martha. (Well. She might have been a particularly well-dressed black girl in a boss jacket hanging out by the Doctor Who booth, but I'm deciding she's Martha.)
- Also ALSO spotted? Daphne Ashbrook, also known as Dr. Grace Holloway, Eight's first companion. I didn't introduce myself because I was... oddly intimidated. Also also also spotted was James Marsters; I didn't introduce myself in that case because the line was insane and you had to pay.
- I have encountered a $40 live-size cardboard cutout of Rose Tyler and walked away without buying it. I deserve some kind of prize. I REALLY wanted it, but I can't think of a single appropriate use of having a Bills in my room, and I managed to creep even myself out.
- My favorite cosplayers of the day were an adorable couple playing TONY/PEPPER. She was in a power suit and had a briefcase that said Stark Industries, and he was in a hoodie and had an LCD poking through his t-shirt, and it was socute.
- AT ONE OF THE BOOTHS, I FOUND-- ONLY LIKE A SHELF AWAY FROM ONE ANOTHER-- A
WORF ACTION FIGURE AND A DARTH VADER BOBBLEHEAD. IT MADE MY LIFE.
Purchases: three shotglasses (my first!), one Star Wars themed, one Star Trek themed, and one Firefly themed; a Batman t-shirt;
THIS t-shirt, which is doubly amazing because a) it's based off an inside joke started by Billie Piper, and b) IT HAS DAVID'S FACE ON IT; a series of four posters showing cross-sections of Firefly vehicles, some of which I'll give away or sell because I only REALLY wanted Serenity but you had to buy the set. ComicCon is EXPENSIVE, you guys. Mostly because I want ALL THE THINGS.
Also of note: I'VE CONVERTED
zombres TO THE CLOEN-LOVE BANDWAGON, AND THAT MAKES ME A VERY HAPPY CAMPER INDEED.
