"Um. Can I... help... you?" he asks, not sure if he's directing his question at the tall Northern man cradling his finger in his hand, or the young blonde hanging on his arm, patting him in a bizarre mix of gentleness, frustration and amusement.
"He got bit by a squirrel," she explains when the man does nothing but stare petulantly into thin air in response to Rory's question. "D'you have any plaster about?"

He doesn’t mean to find the photo. And he certainly doesn’t mean to stare at it like this, completely arrested in the middle of the console room, staring at the smiling faces of the woman he lost and the man he used to be.
And he absolutely does not mean to get caught.
"Who's she?" Amy asks, insatiably curious as always.
"That's... that's Rose. We traveled together. A long time ago."
"Like you and me?"
Not remotely, he wants to say, because yes, they both saved him while he was busy thinking he was saving them, but it's different, it's so different-"In a manner of speaking," he allows.
"Who's the bloke with her, then?" she asks, studying the picture carefully. "Is that her husband?"
His hearts lurch, and he's not sure which is more upsetting-that Amy would automatically assume marriage when she doesn't know, she can't know who she's missing, when she doesn't ( ... )
