I've been working really hard, and finally got it together enough to renew my reader's card at the Huntington. And to my embarrassment I was there about an hour when I ran into some colleagues from grad school. THEY were working. One of them is there working all the time, and of course I ought to have been doing this all along. Oh, well.

Aaanyway... Wow, you really have been ripping through the Dresden books. I'm so glad you've been enjoying them. The scene with the T-rex and polka made me have to put the book down I was laughing so hard.
Ultimately, there are just so many moments of win. The werewolves playing D&D. Harry showing up to the vampire masquerade as a cheesy vampire in a rented tux. Harry discovering what Thomas was doing for a living.
And then there are the characters. I think one of the things that impresses me is how well he develops the other characters even though this is told first person. Thomas, Karrin, Butters, even Mouse. I love the interaction between Harry and everyone else.
I'd never really thought the books were sexist. Harry's got a chivalrous streak, but Karrin is a strong, solid character and has been since the very first book. Ah well. People will find almost anything to bitch about if they look hard enough.
Doc sent me my signed copy of Turn Coat, but I realized I'm still a book behind. I need to get my hands on a copy of Small Favor. Which Borders didn't have the last time I was in there, damn them.
