Dear Dairy:
There are some days when you definitely should stay in bed. My day started with my dentist dropping his mirror down my throat and only went downhill from there.
Looking on the bright side:
1) The mirror did not go all the way down.
2) I do not have to go back to the dentist anytime soon. He's really a very good dentist, no kidding. About three other people were yelling for his attention and he reached over and his grip slipped. Still, I'm not sorry that I don't have cavities or anything.
3) I did eventually get back from the car dealership.
4) While waiting for the Shuttle That Did Not Come and Sitting on the Metal Bench Of Hardness and standing on the Concrete Of Hardness and trying to distract myself from the pain, I thought a lot about Penelope's current situation. Not that there are three completely cute and unexceptionable men waiting around for me to marry them, but if there were and if I knew I could love any of them and that any of them could love me, what would I do? I couldn't really come up with anything, and I couldn't really come up with any realistic rationale for making a decision. ( A poll? Seriously?) The best I could do was something like the young lady in Iolanthe who has two lords in love with her and tells them (approximate quote) "If one of you were to give all your wealth to the deserving poor, I should without hesitation marry the other one."
5) I had a chance to re-read ALL of the Chaucer I am teaching tomorrow and next Wednesday AND "The Lay of Lanval" AND a good chunk of *Sir Gawain and the Green Knight* before the pain got too pain-like for me to concentrate.
I didn't do too much after I got home, though. I realized after a while that being tired and in pain and not having had any lunch was affecting my judgment, so I decided to sit in my chair and make legacy comments, and hopefully I got into minimal trouble.
I haven't cleaned the house in far too long, and there are plenty of other things I need to do, but I really am thinking about doing some serious Simming this weekend, since I have Monday off, and I am so curious to see what happens next.
