A bit of frustration

EDIT:  AUGH, I almost wish I'd never made this post.  I think I hurt some good people, and I wasn't even thinking of them.

Now that it looks as though the Exchange is down, I have only two options: to pull pictures one by one into a Powerpoint, or to direct people to the pages archived by the magnificent hooptytrib. I hope it doesn't cause him problems, because that's what I'm doing as a temporary fix, and that will go up this weekend.

I must say, though, that I'm getting a bit tired of the following:  "YOU didn't convert your files off the Exchange when it first went down?  PFFFT!  I did that AGES ago!"  with the implied addition, "loser."

When Slidify first came out, either I did not understand it at all, or couldn't get it to work, or some combo of both.  Several people tried to explain it to me, but some step must have been missing, because it never worked for me.  It took Jo's tutorial to explain it so that I actually could do it, and I discovered Jo's tutorial very late in the game.  Once I did understand it, and reinstalled Open Office, I did about eight chapters.  I ran out of time and wrist energy--this was during the school year--and I thought I'd have time, or at least a warning.  I got neither.  That, and I absolutely hated my early chapters.  I should have done them all and waited to see what they look liked later.  I kept picking at it--"do I want to change the number system?  do I want to come up with a template?  It's giving me all these "file is corrupt" messages--is that something I need to worry about?"

So yes, that does leave me with an almighty mess, although now that I think about it, I'll direct people to Hoopty's Ark.  I hope this doesn't cause him trouble, and YES it is the result of my being confused about how some programs worked.  But I wish people would just quit it with the "YOU didn't convert. ...loser." It is not nice to have to convert forty chapters, painfully, one by one, and what's done is done. And I'm tired of people rubbing salt in the wound.

/end rant.
