The Beat of your Heart
Kira rubbed the back of his neck with one hand, his eyes still intently scanning the pages of neat spidery handwriting in front of him; the sun had long-since set but he had a lot of work to do before he retired from the offices that night.
In the days following Aizen’s murder there had been precious little time to spend signing forms in the office and they had built to such a level that he just couldn’t leave them unchecked any longer; putting another finished piece to one side he sighed a picked up the next, his tired eyes watering as he tried to focus once more.
“There you are, Izuru-chan,” a familiar voice lilted behind him.
Kira turned to see his captain leaning casually against the doorframe, his ever-present smile softened slightly at the sight of his lieutenant working so hard; Gin took a mental picture of this scene; he wanted to be able to remember it in the days to come.
“Taichou,” Kira greeted him formally before turning back to the large stack of papers awaiting his attention.
“You work too hard sometimes; ya know that, Izuru-chan?” Gin asked moving further into the room and starting to slowly massage Kira’s shoulders. “You should relax.”
Reluctantly Kira put down his brush feeling all the muscles in his body begin to unwind instantly at the skilled fingertips of his captain; an involuntarily moan escaped his lips as the final knots of tension disappeared.
“Better?” Gin asked, the grin evident in his voice; at Kira’s moan he had felt a twitch of lust rise inside him but, instead of pursue that relentlessly as he usually would have done he suppressed it. He was determined to make this night perfect so that Kira had a fresh memory of how tender and kind he could be when he wanted to - that would make the expression on his face all the sweeter when the betrayal came.
Gently Gin took Kira’s hands and pulled him upright, planting a soft kiss on his surprised lieutenant’s face and guiding him to the centre of the room; Kira opened his mouth to ask what was happening but Gin silenced him with a soft finger to his lips, gathering the blonde in close to his body he just held him.
In the stillness of the room Kira could feel Gin’s heart beating through his chest, a slow inexorable beating that had a smooth hypnotic quality; very gradually he began to sway to the steady drum beat of his captain’s heart - his feet moving to Gin’s tune the way they always had.
Gin’s smile widened above Kira’s head as he realised what was happening as the two began dancing slowly to a beat only they could hear.
