Lessons
Ichimaru Gin had learnt a lot of things from Aizen Sosuke over the years; he had learnt how to tell the subtle difference in the body language of those around you to more easily read and manipulate them. He had learnt the importance of checking and double checking your plans looking for that one mistake that might bring you down, and he had learnt never to show what you really felt about anything.
From the moment Gin was placed under Aizen he began learning from him with a diligence that almost bordered on obsession; he had waited all his life to belong somewhere and be important to someone and now that he had the chance to follow somebody truly great he made sure to grab the opportunity with both hands.
The instant that Aizen met Gin he knew that this was the one he had been searching for; somebody the world had rejected that he could mould in his image and teach his ideals to, and yet not somebody who would follow him blindly. It was clear to him that Gin had ambitions and intelligence of his own, would only follow him as long as he remained the best, but that was how he wanted it. He had no use for a mindless adoring slave - at least, not yet.
Gradually, subtly, Aizen taught Gin everything he knew and Gin absorbed every piece of knowledge with the same voracious appetite regardless of whether the lesson was how to kill discreetly or the finer points of giving pleasure in the bedroom.
But as Gin looked at the falsely dead Aizen, dripping with dark crimson blood and pinned to the wall like a rare butterfly, he reflected that there was no lesson more important than that the truth was always subjective.
A pity Seireitei hadn’t learnt that yet.
