Here's what I need: as many Americans as possible to comment on here to reassure me that America has not gone completely and utterly insane ( Read more... )

M - I understand you are upset and I actually sent lunalovepotter over to make a comment b/c she keeps up with politics and news WAY more than I do (well, I barely do at all so I guess most people fall under that category). While I generally lean on the opposite scale as geezer, I have to say that the tone of this post (more than the content) sort of offends me. I guess it's the use of the terms, "dimwits", "imbeciles", and mere "life-forms" in such sweeping generalizations to those of us who are Americans and darn proud too, that it's hard to get past that and actually want to try to answer your question (if you really want it answered).

If you just want to rant, that's your prerogative too however a anti-U.S. warning and an LJ-cut would be helpful for those of us who may not wish to pick up on phrases here and there as we scroll our friends list. Again, maybe I'm totally wrong here but I just had to mention it anyway. Thanks.

I'm replying on this comment just because I second the harsh generalizations used. Please never trust newspapers or news venues in general!! They tend to be horrendously biased and often misinformed ( ... )

Just to add to this (if I may) I found the whole statement made by the commander of the base, and in context it makes sense rather than being the ravings of an idiot.

Also I would like to say to ablueskier, that while this is perhaps the third thing I have read that you have written, you stike me as one of the most level-headed, rational people I have had the pleasure of reading opinions from any where on LJ.

Sorry Andrea, I intended the dimwits etc to be taken purely as addressed towards the particular Americans involved in this sort of thing, not towards all Americans in general - I know you lot are all intelligent people. :)

Personally I think many of those in positions of power in this country are 'dimwits', 'imbeciles', etc. (As I'm sure you know by now, ad nauseum ( ... )
