I have a tween
I don't think I realized when I had my first child that someday I would have a tween. E. says the word wasn't invented yet (which is maybe possible as it seems to have been a 2000s word, though obviously a much earlier concept). And really, if "they" told you you would someday have a tween, you wouldn't get pregnant in the first place.
But tonight, my daughter and her pcousin L. asked that we parents not come down to tuck them in as they wanted to talk. This was followed by B. asking if tomorrow night, after L. went home to PA, whether we could have our regular bedtime ritual back.
This seems the quintessential definition of tween--pushing away with one hand and holding on with the other.
