Choosing a Musical Instrument

Jun 01, 2010 16:38

B. came home from school recently with a worksheet that helped her choose an instrument to learn. The kids all got to hold the instruments so they could assess size (too small, just right, too big). They got to hear them so they could assess tone (too high, just right, too low).

B. chose 1. viola, 2. clarinet (Mama played), 3. violin (Papa played). When she came home, we talked long about the advantages and disadvantages. We played her some great music in different genres showcasing her first choices.

She made her choice primarily by distance from the percussion section, since she feels they are too loud and she doesn't want to be near them.
