It's fine if in fandom people want to play out countries getting married without the unification. I don't have a problem with it and I don't think anyone should - whatever makes people happy is a-okay. But in RP there's other people interconnected with what you do (a general you), so there's a greater expectation to be careful and in line with canon. I think something that big should be approached carefully before being played out - and if you really want to do it safely, you can always play it in a musebox (though I admit that's less fun).
The self-loathing would be a big reason, in my opinion, on why he'd kiss him. Kurt was convenient and happened to be the only out kid in the school. If it'd been anyone else that was gay and out, Karofsky probably would've kissed them instead. Kurt is more incidental to him figuring out his feelings and identity, a convenient scapegoat. That's why he got bullied and picked on so much - not for who he is, but for what he represents. Obviously this is ultimately a matter of interpretation and largely debatable, it's just again that I would approach it more carefully because it affects so many other players.
Otherwise you raise reasonable points, especially about Eames. Inception really doesn't give RPers a lot to work with overall, it was more that I was seeing a pattern and tendency once I was looking for it across your characters, so I thought I'd bring it up.
I'm glad you took it so well. :) I understand this can be seen as a harsh attack but really... I do mean it constructively. ;; I think you're active and valuable part of DDD and this is really just food for thought! I don't want to make a big deal out of something in RP, I'd really just (personally) like to see more consideration of other players in what's played out. Obviously I can only speak for myself, though. And I'm sorry for all the tl;dr, l-lol.
I'm not sure how you mean by playing it carefully? Though me and Teresa do try our best to avoid stepping on any toes if at all possible. I know the other two players in the Hetalia cast seemed okay with it (iirc Mini seemed alright with it and Fel was excited). That said, if anyone has any issues with how we're handling it, it's more than okay to bring it up to one of us, as you're doing now. But I don't think it'll get moved to musebox since a) it's been announced in the comm, and b) I know Teresa is really excited for this (and, admittedly, so am I).
I don't know, I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this. Because if he hates the fact that he's gay so much, I don't think he'd risk exposure on someone he just thought was incidental to his feelings. I think he'd rather live in denial than ever try and sort through who he is or what he feels, and the kiss was in the heat of the moment because he was alone with someone he had feelings for. Lylith seems to agree with that interpretation, so that's how we've played it (unless you're Lylith and I'm horribly wrong?).
:) Don't worry, I don't think this was a harsh attack. I'm glad you brought it to my attention via HMD, rather than in RP!S or BRPS or something (which unfortunately has happened before to me, and it sucks :/). So don't worry, there's no hard feelings <33
