Character: Kairi
Series/Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Original or Alternate: Alternate
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Barracks: Dor-Ennea
Division: Machinery
Player: rpdichotomy

Appearance: Kairi is a pretty young girl with long red hair she keeps pulled back into a braided bun and long wispy bangs. She has blue eyes and is rather pale from being in the lab most of the time. Upon arrival in Econtra, she was wearing a black turtleneck, a pink dress, black tights, pink mary janes, a white lab coat, and a white pendant around her neck.

Update: Due to the events of this thread, Kairi now sports a set of extensive burn scars on her back.

Update: Kairi has now cut her hair into a shorter style reminiscent of KH1!Kairi's.

Personality: Kairi is nominally a quiet introverted girl, but years of learning courtly etiquette and having to present results in various experiments for the last two years has given her a charisma and charm to be able to cover this up when she needs to. Overall, though, she is pretty cheerful and sunny and likes to keep the people around her in good cheer. Due to being raised in Hollow Bastion by the Queen Mother and her son, the King, she was isolated from most children her age and has little experience with handling people her own age on a social level. Being a lab assistant didn't help this very much, but she has a curiosity she always tries to satisfy to the best of her ability and she hates being in the way and always tries to find a way to be useful. Furthermore, if you're a friend of hers, you'll find she will be fiercely loyal to you almost to a fault and she will do anything within her power to help you in any way she can.

Abilities/Strengths: Kairi's greatest strength is perhaps her charisma. As an Apprentice under Lord Ansem, she often had to give public statements as to the results of the various research done alongside the other researchers and thus became skilled in public speaking and in how to put a politically correct spin on unsavory topics. Other than that, she is fairly intelligent and competent with machinery - her main job in the lab being the upkeep of the various machinery and instruments used.

Update: Due to various studying she has done throughout her stay, Kairi is now skilled in hacking and potion-making.

Weaknesses: Kairi can be overly logical sometimes and fails to see the bad in people she knows, believing everyone is inherently good. Since she was raised in Hollow Bastion long after the other orphans were adopted and always opted to follow Xehanort or Ienzo around instead of playing with the children of Court members or in town, she doesn't know how to relate to people her own age very well. On top of that, she has a Heart of pure Light, which draws Darkness wanting to consume it to her and, despite having the basic combat training required in a Courtly education, she isn't very good at fighting. She is completely incapable of performing magic.

Update: Due to the events of this thread, Kairi now has a set of extensive burn scars on her back. These scars limit her mobility and can make certain movements painful for her.

History: Short version - this is a guess at what Kairi would be like if Xehanort had let the experiments on the Heart stop when Ansem the Wise asked him to.

Long version - *Sits back to let the fic reccing commence*

Kairi was born in a small farming village on the outskirts of Radiant Garden to parents she never knew. At the time a war between the Light and the Dark was being waged on Radiant Garden and many people were left homeless as battle after battle was raged. Kairi's village was ravaged by thieves leaving only a handful of children alive. The children were just about to try to make their own way as thieves when Lord Ansem showed up rounding up refugees with a young, amnesiac Xehanort in tow (having just found the boy as the only survivor in the last village he looked through) and took the children to his stronghold in Hollow Bastion where he had been taking in War Orphans.

Once there, Lord Ansem's mother (the Queen Mother Evangeline) grew fond of the girl and took her in as a surrogate granddaughter and was raised as a sibling alongside Xehanort (who was adopted by Lord Ansem) and Ienzo (another refugee orphan who is eight years older than she is and was taken in by one of Lord Ansem's bodyguard's, Eleaus). She even went so far as to follow those two to the labs where they eventually gained apprenticeships under Lord Ansem and grew close to the other apprentice, Dilan, and the three researchers who were also there, Braig, Eleaus, and Even (the last was only to a degree).

When she was five years old, she, Ienzo, Braig, and Xehanort were eavesdropping in on a meeting Lord Ansem had with a strange visitor from another World. The Mouse heeded Lord Ansem to stop the experiments they had been performing on the nature of Darkness and Light in relation to the Heart and, to their shock, he agreed. Xehanort rushed in to try to talk reason into Lord Ansem, but was denied his request. Xehanort had been crushed and retreated into a depression for a few years afterwards.

Kairi, though, was given a top education and herself eventually became an Apprentice to Lord Ansem in the lab. By this point, Xehanort was out of his depression and had started doing his own experiments in secret, but was unable to get effective results without help or access to a proper lab to perform them in. He eventually asked Ienzo and Kairi for help in them, having developed a scanner to read what was in a person's Heart. The three of them used this device to make observations of the people in Town and in the Bastion and made several interesting discoveries - including that Darkness isn't necessarily evil and that there were some people running around who didn't even have a Heart to begin with, but were living perfectly normal lives.

At around this time, people were starting to go missing from Town and from the Bastion. The Mouse-King returned from his World claiming that the creatures involved in the war that ended thirteen years ago were back in a greater number and in all the Known Worlds, they were concentrated highest around the Bastion.

Unfortunately, Lord Ansem discovered what they were doing and was angry about it. He was willing to give them a chance to report their findings before the Royal Court and to explain themselves before deciding their fates. Even though all they had been doing was reading what was in people's Hearts, several recent disappearances in Town had made people suspicious and the three main suspects at this point was Xehanort, Ienzo, and Kairi.

It was while the three of them were being brought before the Court that Kairi was pulled into Econtra.
