Author's Notes;; This one is old.

"Here goes... October 13th. I finally got outside. John is still stuck in the round cell. I hope I can read well tomorrow," Eileen frowned and looked to Henry. "They locked these little kids in cells, Henry. Like... like they were animals!" She lowered her head. Henry could see her shoulders tremble with... was it anger or sadness? A combination of both? Just the thought of what happened to these kids caused her to go into a mental fit. She was a very compassionate woman.

There wasn't anything he could say to that, so Henry remained silent and continued to lead the way through the vast forest. He froze, however, when the gate behind them opened with a loud, eerie creak. In their time here, Henry had become very familar with that sound... and the presence that came with it. A soft gasp came from behind, obviously Eileen. After that, a laugh. That madman's laugh. And after the laugh, the sound of a gun being cocked. Another familar sound.

"Eileen... run."
"My Reciever..."
"Eileen!"

Henry spun around and cursed. Why did she always do that?! Damnit, it was obvious that they couldn't permanently kill that man, so why did she insist on starting a brawl with him when the best choice would of course be to run? Did she really think that she could take him on with that little riding crop of hers? Not even Henry and his chainsaw were a match for this seemingly immortal man. Did Henry have to throw her over his shoulder and carry her back to safety, even if that safety would just be until Walter caught up with them in the next clearing?

But Walter just gave Eileen a good knock on the head with his pipe and began running straight at Henry.

Get Eileen or run? Get Eileen or run? Get Eileen or run? Henry clenched his chainsaw and ran passed Walter and over to Eileen. She was knocked out on the ground with her riding crop a foot away from her unconscious body. Henry contemplated carrying her to safety, although there was no way he could carry both her and his chainsaw. He’d have to drop his weapon on the ground, leaving it for Walter who would probably pick it up and use it against him and Eileen later. Or he could try and kill Walter, even if it would only be temporary. At least he’d have enough time to get Eileen to safety.

He picked plan B.

Henry revved his chainsaw and glared over at his blond enemy. “I-I’m going to give you the option of leaving us be in peace,” he began in a rather shaky voice, obviously rather intimidated by the fact that he was on his own with this, “or... y-you can answer to my little friend here.”

Walter looked insanely giddy, though Henry had no idea why. “Oh, Henry. Do you really think you can beat me on your own?” he cooed, rather amused by the whole thing. “You really are a treat, you know that?” Walter smiled and raised his gun. Henry knew that this meant he’d have to get closer to the blond man so that he’d use the pipe instead. Henry could easily dodge that pipe, but bullets not so easily.

“What the hell is your problem?!” Henry felt the sweat trickle down his temple. Oh god, what had he gotten himself into? Neither of them had made any advances on the other, but the anxiety was killing him. Walter’s gun was still aimed at him, yet not a single bullet had been fired. Why was Walter waiting? Henry had the hope that the blond killer would just throw his weapons on the ground and walk away, but any chances of that happening were dashed when Walter finally fired a bullet at him.

Goddamnit, had he waited on purpose so that Henry would put his guard down?! It worked, nevertheless. The bullet punctured Henry’s left arm, and because of this, the brunette cried out in pain and instinctively grabbed the spot he was penetrated with his other hand, dropping his chainsaw in the process. Walter didn’t let up, though. He continued firing round after round at the Receiver of Wisdom, but Henry quickly took refuge behind a tree.

Oh lord, please please please. Yes! Henry pulled out the revolver he had gotten from Richard’s room and loaded it. His arm was in unbelievable pain, but this of course had happened before. Very rarely did Henry get out of a fight with Walter with no bullets in his body. Slowly, Henry inched out from behind the tree. Walter was nowhere to be seen, though.

“W-Wha,” Henry whipped his head in every direction, determined to find Walter before the blond came out of nowhere and attacked him. A minute of searching passed before Henry concluded that Walter must have fled. Why he would have run away, Henry had no idea. Surely Walter could have taken him down, and surely the damn lunatic knew it, so why had he run off like that? Or maybe it was another trick. Maybe he was waiting behind the gate ahead of them, ready to attack when Henry tried bringing Eileen to the safety of the Wish House’s burned remains.

But that didn’t matter to Henry now. Eileen was his top priority. Maybe Walter was still hiding around somewhere. At least now Henry had the chance to get Eileen out of there, even if Walter came out of hiding and shot him full of bullets. It wasn’t that far a run from where they were to the Wish House. He could make it. He could do it.

As quickly and carefully as possible, Henry put his revolver back in his back pocket and lifted Eileen’s bruised body into his arms. Her head hung back lifelessly, but Henry could still see the rise and fall of her chest. That was encouragement enough. Carrying her body in his arms caused Henry’s shot arm to hurt more than he thought possible, but there was no way he was leaving Eileen out here with that madman. Never again would Henry let her be harmed.

Henry adjusted Eileen’s body in his arms and, as quickly as he could, made a bolt towards the gate. As he had suspected, Walter had been hiding behind a tree off in the darkness of the forest, but Henry was already through the gate when Walter had fired off a round. Oh, Henry could see the Wish House just a ways ahead. He let the gate swing open behind him. Let Walter give chase. If only he could get passed the gate ahead... then he’d be home free!

But Walter wouldn’t have that.

Henry felt a sharp pain in his leg and numbly registered it as a gunshot. Before hitting the ground, he twisted his body around so that he didn’t fall face-first, but rather on his back, so that Eileen wouldn’t be harmed. His fall hurt like the devil, but at least Eileen was all right. For now. Henry slowly opened his eyes and noticed the legs in front of him. Those tan pants... Henry tilted his head back and found himself staring down the barrel of an all-too-familiar gun.

Of course. So the cat had finally caught its mice.
